I like it, here a few suggestions

I'm quite happy with the tool. 👍 It takes 12-24 hours to write a 50.000 words book. The UI is very simple and intuitive, the results are fine for the most part. I like that the steps are clearly labeled.

However, it can be better in a few ways:
📑 I find the TOC implementation to be too stressful. It never aderhers to my prompt, it crafts mediocre tables, and later I can add only 1 chapter and 2 parts extra – that's it. I would like to distruibuite the content structure in a more personalized and refined way. I like the new custom JSON, but has the same limitations. I would like to set more sections, parts, and suggest talking points for each.
🗣️ I seem to never find a good style prompt. Youbooks tends to write very sophisticated. Maybe too much (at least in Italian). If I'm writing a short and simple lead magnet, and I specify casual, conversational, etc. it won't care and it tends to output the psychology manual.

👉 In short, TOC feature is too limited and writing styles aderhance can be improved.

The output is very usable. You can get a very good draft for later revision with another AI tool (I tend to use ChatGPT or Claude Code) and/or manual edits. As I said, Youbook output is always too linguistically sophisticated for my liking – the same prompt on GPT gives better results.

Impressive quality and support

Youbooks is easy to use and writes with impressive quality. The books structure is very good, and it covers the instructions and reference documents very well. Even for topics than general blog writing tools struggle with. The draft requires much less editing than expected. Book length is great.

I had a couple of support requests that were answered and resolved very quickly.

Thank you for your review Warren :-)

Topic depth is much higher than other AI book maker tools due to the internet research module that visits hundreds of sources. You can increase it even more by providing your own sources.

Solid AI Book Builder with Serious Potential — Definitely Worth a Spin

Youbooks genuinely surprised me in a good way. Out of all the “AI writes your entire book” tools I’ve played with — and there were many — this one delivers the most coherent structure and the cleanest research. The content actually makes sense, feels organized, and lands in the right direction.

Now to the tricky part: writing style.
Every author has their own flavor — informative, playful, motivational, dead-serious… you name it. And that’s where Youbooks still struggles a bit. Even with one of my published books as a style reference, it didn’t really match my tone. Too many citations for my taste, sentences a bit stiff, and as a German writer I always use the informal “du.” The tool sticks with the very formal “Sie,” no matter what I feed it. Probably a very specific German-language problem, but still noticeable.

Would I recommend Youbooks?
Yes — at least to test it. This is Appsumo, so trying it for 60 days is a no-brainer.
And honestly: I haven’t found any other tool currently operating on this level. I’ve tested different agents, approaches, and “AI book builders,” and right now Youbooks is on top.

Is it perfect? Not yet.
At the moment, I still need to go through the full draft manually and tune quite a lot. But the potential is obvious. If the devs add more flexibility for style and language settings, this could become a seriously powerful tool.

Will I keep it?
Most likely yes — maybe even upgrade.
Even though I’m still picky about the German output and have very high standards, the value for money is unbeatable right now.

Thank you for a great review Ralf! Here a few tips you can trye (might or might not work)

When you trained the human model with your book, ensure no citations, tocs, or other non-prose artifacts went in. The model will basically try to generate such artifacts which could create hallucinations and not the intended style. Use only clean prose. If you did that already, great!

Its fun to write books with youbooks, and it does work, just not for the lazy person

I've produced around 6 books on various topics from investing and health, like all AI prompting systems and engines, it gives you high quality output if you give it high quality input. If you are lazy and write "write me a book about dogs" and then don't get what you want, that is really your fault. You need to be exact in specifications and even use other AI tools to generate a mile long prompt. Further, adding your own content can help it sound just like you vs too generic or vanilla. It does what it says, if it gets upgraded to write non-fiction as well, I would love that. Also would love to have the ability to write 1000-4000 word articles using the same "book building" logic the platform is already doing, especially with BYOK turned on where I am using my own AI credits anyway.

Thanks for the ideas and feedback! To get 4K word articles, I would create a longer book and then split it across sections. I had not thought of this use case until you mentioned it. It does mean we should include an option to skip inter-section references in the book so you don't have to edit them out. Let me know if this sounds like a good idea.

“Great structure — now give it more substance!

YouBooks is a very helpful tool for getting a clear manuscript structure in place quickly. It takes scattered notes and ideas and turns them into a coherent, readable draft, which can save a significant amount of time in the early phases of writing.

That said, the output tends to be on the generic side. It usually lacks real-world benchmarks, concrete examples, numbers, and practical frameworks. The tone can feel a bit too “polished,” like a consulting brochure, so the draft is rarely ready for publication as-is.

Bottom line: Excellent as a structural foundation or first full draft — but you’ll need to add your own depth, expertise, and real cases. Highly useful for getting started efficiently.

Thank you for your review!

Totally agree with you that the draft is not ready for publication straight out the box (imagine that!).

If you want a less polished tone, try using a human model (you should train your own) but keep in mind that humanization = more editing required. We do our best to keep our humanization models in line with, but sometimes they get distracted (like humans).
