SUPER TIP
When I was onboarding, there was a list of tasks to accomplish. And above that list was a box to schedule a call with one of the co-founders, Kelvin. I highly recommend that you do this FIRST. Schedule the call (for a few days away), then finish onboarding and start using the service. If you master the tools, then you can spend your time with the founder talking about STRATEGY, which will really give you a huge boost. I was floored that one of the co-founders took the time to go over the best way to USE the product to get the best results, along with general practices for ultimate success.

I am currently on Tier 3 and thinking of going to Tier 4. The value of this service is incredible. The tools help you understand the best phrases to use (and how your competitors are using them) to get more mentions with AI. Kelvin emphasized the importance of providing real value. Sites built on AI Slop and generic answers/info won't benefit from this. But if you, like me, put in a lot of sweat and tears into your work, this will pay off... big time. And I can understand why Tier 3 & 4 get only a set number of article creations after seeing how it works. It's powerful... very powerful. And probably expensive to run.

Kelvin told me that they are making a hefty investment in AppSumo users because they know the value of our feedback in improving the product over the long term for a much wider audience. They also strongly believe in making the product as easy to use as possible, despite the gazillion data-driven features it offers. They are extremely receptive to user input, so be sure to take the time to let them know what works for you, what doesn't, what is hard to understand, or what new features would benefit you.

We’ve been fighting the same battle every scaling founder faces: getting discovered in the new AI search era while competitors dominate traditional results. What actually works (and why I’m recommending it):
* The content brief → draft workflow is excellent. It doesn’t just spit out generic AI text ,it gives you a strategic brief with structure, target phrases, and platform-specific optimisation before generating the draft. I’ve already used it to create comparison listicles such as “Top Alternatives to xxx” and the quality is strong enough that, with a few screenshots and light human edits, it reads naturally.
* Off-page playbook is gold. kelvin walked me through exactly how to use Reddit threads, YouTube videos, and directory listings the way AI engines actually reward them storytelling over hard selling, updating old posts with founder replies and changelogs, and reaching out to listicle authors. This is the kind of practical, non-fluffy advice most AI tools never give you.
* Tier 3 features (multiple workspaces, pooled content credits, content brief system) make it genuinely usable for a small team.
* Speed to results. Kelvin was clear that when you execute the full loop (on-page optimisation + off-page signals + freshness), you can see movement in weeks rather than the 6–12 months traditional SEO often demands. That speed matters when you’re a growing marketplace trying to capture buyer intent.

Honest notes
The technical visibility/sentiment scores are interesting to look at, but the real value is in the actionable content system and the off-page strategy guidance. I’m not chasing a perfect 100 score. I’m focused on creating useful, well-structured content that AI engines want to cite. .The support during onboarding was responsive and genuinely tailored to our use case.
Already planning to create more listicles, refresh older reviews, and get us listed in relevant directories. This is one of those rare tools that feels like it was built for founders who are actually executing, not just researching.
Highly recommended for anyone serious about AI-era visibility.

Honestly, I don't understand why this tool isn't catching on faster here. I’ve had the chance to test it thoroughly, and I’m pretty impressed. It’s clear, intuitive, but more importantly, it has all the features I need for my two websites. I bought Visby a while back, and I find ZeroRank to be much more comprehensive. I hope this tool achieves the success it deserves, because you can tell the developers have put a lot of effort into creating it.

How to Tell If You’re Buying a Wrapper or Real AEO Infrastructure
I dug into ZeroRank, Erlin, Visby, and Blazly - and the architecture gap between them is not subtle.
ZeroRank is the only one running what looks like real scraping infrastructure. The other three are workflow wrappers with nice dashboards, built on public developer APIs.

Here’s how to spot the difference:
The checklist:
1. Engine coverage. If a tool only tracks ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity - wrapper. All four have clean public APIs. The real tell is Google AI Overviews and Bing Copilot. No public API exists for either. If a tool skips both, it’s because they can’t scrape them.
2. BYOK. If a tool lets you plug in your own OpenRouter or LLM API key for tracking, that’s a confession, not a feature. They’re routing prompts through your key to the same public endpoints you could hit yourself for free. Zero proprietary data layer.
3. Pricing math. Real scraping infrastructure - proxies, rotating IPs, headless browsers, anti-bot evasion - costs real money. If a tool offers unlimited tracking at $50-100/month, the math only works if their marginal cost per query is near zero. Which it is, if they’re just calling APIs.
4. Rendered screenshots. Real scrapers can show you an actual screenshot of a Google AIO result. Wrappers only have text. Ask support. A real infrastructure player answers immediately. A wrapper has nothing to show you.

The verdicts:
ZeroRank - Covers AIO and Bing Copilot. No API route exists for those. You either scrape or you don’t cover them. Real infrastructure, or at minimum the only tool with evidence of it.
Erlin - Four engines, all public APIs. Accepts your own OpenRouter key for tracking. That’s not a data product, that’s a prompt runner.
Visby - Three engines, all API-accessible. Founder confirmed in an AppSumo Q&A: “We use official LLM APIs to execute prompts - we do not track through the public web apps.” Wrapper confirmed by the founder himself.
Blazly - Content and GEO optimization tool with tracking bolted on. Same API-only engine coverage. Workflow tooling, not a data engine.

One honest caveat - wrapper doesn’t automatically mean worthless. For pure LLM engines like ChatGPT and Gemini, API responses and consumer UI responses are largely the same. The real blind spot is AIO and Copilot specifically. That’s where wrappers fall short and where it actually matters.

Zerorank.ai is overall a very complete product. I spent several hours testing it (Tier 1 version), and everything felt quite solid.

The usability and user experience are very well executed, it’s not just about what appears, but how it appears. The onboarding is extremely simple: you just input your website URL, and the AI quickly understands the vertical/niche and starts generating queries using very natural phrasing, similar to how users interact with LLM chatbots.

I especially liked the detailed tracking of competitor websites and brands, as well as the suggestions for both content and technical improvements on our own websites. The several brand alias and brand domains are also a nice touch! Really nice.

I also want to highlight that I had an issue when redeeming the AppSumo deal initially, and the support, including the founder , Kelvin, was extremely fast and effective in resolving it.

As an area for improvement, I believe there should already be an option to purchase article credits. Tiers 1 and 2 don’t include monthly article credits, but users should always have the ability to buy additional credits to create content within the platform, no matter starter plan or other paid plans. The BYOK could be only for upper tiers, but at least the ability to buy credits for article writing.

Overall, I really like the product. It seems to have strong potential to grow and establish itself alongside other established players in the market.

One additional note: zerorank.ai launched on AppSumo and increased its price shortly after, which is fair.

However, it increased again today while the AppSumo page still shows that the LTD promotion will end in 2 days. I contacted the ZeroRank team, and they confirmed it appears to be a UI issue on AppSumo’s side. Still, the countdown has been active for several hours, which creates some confusion.
