Is it possible to set up one-time payments or subscriptions, and then redirect customers to a private page where the tool is hosted?

You can set up one-time payments or subscriptions, it's up to you, and yes, you can redirect them to your private page once they've paid.
It can also be embedded on external web pages for sure.
