Just to set the record straight,
I bought my license on June 13, 2024, which was advertised as a lifetime license at the time.
I only bought it to take advantage of the offer, knowing I would use it someday. That day arrived, and guess what? I went to use it and realized my license wasn't active. I tried to contact them to see what happened, but there's no way to get in touch; their only channel is sales. I checked their social media, and they don't have any. So I figured it all out; it's all downhill from here.
I came here to check out Appsumo, and to my complete surprise, I saw that this problem isn't unique to me.
But I just wanted to register my indignation here because, with this dishonest attitude, these guys won't prosper. I'll be wary because they'll change their name and come back here to pull the same scam.
I have very old licenses from other apps; they honored their promises, delivered improvements, and are thriving solely because of their honesty.

Bait and switch .. no response from the company
Looking at the comments it looks like I am not the only one getting tricked thinking that I was supporting a new venture and getting an LTD with future updates, but instead we got downgraded to the free tear, even when we were in the 3rd tear. Not happy.

Disappointing
The AppSumo plans are laughable. Useless.

Active pieces disappointed the founding members
Active Pieces did not comply with the terms of the lifetime agreement and did not correctly map to the new subscription plans.
Those who purchased a lifetime agreement now have the equivalent of a free subscription plan.
Active Pieces deceived its founding members, who purchased the offer to support the app's growth.
We were betrayed because of the greed of Active Pieces' founder.

Founder can do better
This:
"I gave ChatGPT all the resources and asked it to reply to your review and here's what I got:
--
They paid $239 once, years ago, and still get ongoing access plus upgrades like AI agents, MCP servers, higher limits, and both free self-hosted and free cloud—things Make and n8n won’t give without constant monthly fees. And they call that “crippled”? Seriously?
In Make’s or n8n’s world, $239 wouldn’t even last two years before the bills started rolling in. Activepieces has piled on value without taking another cent—turning this review into more of a head-scratcher than a fair critique."
@Ashraf:
I'm not going to tear down your product. I respect that you're defending it, but that response comes across as petty and isn't what I would expect from a founder. Whether it's warranted or not, I can understand that criticism is unpleasant but you're letting your emotions get the best out of your with this sort of reply.
My recommendation, if you care about your brand voice, is to have someone else handle some of these responses. From my experience interviewing individuals on a daily basis, when you're interacting with users who feel they've been unfairly treated and you provide this type of response, you're not presenting yourself or your product in the most favourable light.
I had no choice but to subtract a taco, since the system would not allow this type of response without at least subtracting one (weird).
I wish you and your team all the best.
