Q: Concerns about privacy

Love the look of this product, but have some concerns about privacy. Even though this runs as a local programme, it utilises the functionality of external AIs that often have poor regard for privacy. Therefore, all the personal work I create and have on my computer will be exposed. Kimi K2 also has its data centres in China, which has a very poor reputation for privacy.

So, my questions are:

1) How can Alter be used in a privacy-first way?
2) The only encrypted privacy-first AI I know is Proton's Lumo. Is Alter compatible with this?

Many thanks

A: 1) First, we use providers with good privacy policies. We listed them on our website, some are deleting logs immediately, other within 30 days: https://alterhq.com/privacy-policy

Second, the Sumo router designed for AppSumo is using only providers with immediate deletion (Fireworks, Together, Cerebras)

Of course for full privacy, the best is to use local models which you can do as well with Alter.

2) End-to-end privacy AI inference. We are compatible with https://www.privatemode.ai/ which has a similar tech than Apple Private Cloud Compute.

If Lumo has an openai compatible endpoint, you can use it on Alter.
