A: One request = one http request = basically one turn in the conversation.
Adding files or folders to a workspace doesn't consume requests.
If by updating files you mean having Alter running operations on files, it will consume requests as it need while doing tool calls. Search/retrieval will consume requests because it's using tools to do it.

I purchased an alert from the Appsumo, and it is totally useless. If you raise any question in their community, they will immediately block you and ban you. So, I don't think we should believe in this product anymore. The Fren people and their products are very useless, like the Alter. It's not working anymore. You won't be able to use it.
