A: Hello. Not as of today. This is something we planned to release 2 months ago but there were other priorities. It's already in development so we will release as soon as it's good enough.
A: Hello. To be honest our focus is to add new integrations and make the platform smooth for existing users. We started the development of the restore/migration feature 2-3 months ago but there's always some other high-priority item. It will be released but I don't have ETA.
Secondly, we don't want to get too much into WordPress because backup runs on the user website and it's just too much work to write code that works on all PHP versions and different hosting configurations.
Am I right if I say, that downloading a backup zip folder and uploading it to a new hosting/Wordpress install, will cause images to not be shown, buttons to link to wrong directions and more, while if I migrate the website from one destination to another, the migration itself will edit the codes so all the items are still working correct, on the new destination, and THIS is the difference between a download/upload vs migration? - Or can it be done/fixed manually somehow?
Secondly: What if I download all my files from the BackupSheep destination folder, and move them to my own server, and if I want to restore a website with those files, can I then just upload this first destination folder, and use BackupSheep to restore it?
So WordPress migration involved multiple steps. If you are moving site to different domain then you have to do find and replace in files and database file as well.
If it's a same website then it's basically downloading and uploading files.
Q: Hi there,
I know this may have been covered before, but just want to confirm.
I could use this in combination with Updraft Plus. Updraft would create the backup in a folder on the website hosting server.
Then BackUpSheep could pull ftp that folder and it's backup contents to BackUpSheep's own storage.
Is that right?
With multiple websites hosted in multiple places, I can back up all these websites in the same way, onto different folders (is that what is meant by nodes?) on BackUpSheep's storage?
And I can set it up so the retention is only so many backups? Or files? So that I don't have to manually delete files to make sure I don't use up the 1TB space?
A: Hello. Yes, this is exactly how our WordPress plugin works. However, I recommend that you use our website and database integration instead.
WordPress plugin works fine in most cases but in cases where there's limited memory and CPU available on shared hosting then it can cause problems.
Soon we will give you access to your storage buckets and you will be able to push backups to BackupSheep storage using any tool/plugin that supports S3 storage.
A node is just a group of files or a group of tables/databases. Yes, they are stored in different folders.
I was on the fence about getting the double. But, if I understand correctly, you plan to provide access to our bucket so that we can use BackupSheep storage directly?
Yes, that's correct. We deployed our S3 storage cluster last month https://feedback.backupsheep.com/updates/new-storage-cluster-storage-buckets

A: Hi. Yes, you can use BackupSheep with Cloudways. You can backup websites and databases without any special integration. Just make sure you add IPs to SSH/SFTP tab and MySQL tab under Security Section of server management page.
A: This is new :) I'm not familiar with iCloud APIs so this is not something we explored yet. BackupSheep features depend mostly on what's available on the other side.
Our goal is to focus on SaaS applications going forward.
Q: Hi,
Just thinking about the already planned "one click recovery" and possibly "incremental/differential backup"...
I know it's not your main purpose, but if your system can backup mysql database (and at some point recover it, as planned) - couldn't backupsheep go one step further and "sync" database, or at least "clone" it?
I'll probably buy backupsheep anyway, once pcloud is integrated, but automatic database sync would be another level :) Thanks
A: Hi. I'm very open to trying new features. I'm already looking into incremental backups; I'm just not promising any dates because I have to finalize specs and see how it fits with other backup features.
A lot is going on right now, and once things are a bit smoother after the AppSumo deal, I will focus on these significant features. Right now, I'm trying to get stuff I already promised. You can read some details here https://appsumo.com/products/backupsheep/#q838160
You can signup without worry :) I already created a pCloud developer account, App for OAuth and added database tables to support it. It's 70% there.
A: Hi Jack. Which new products? Are you talking about any specific feature?
We launched BackupSheep in 2017. Since then we are continuously adding new features. We are deploying new features & enhancements every single week since our AppSumo deal and this will continue because we have plans to use our 3000+ AppSumo users as affiliates :)
Right now, we deployed WordPress Plugin and working on deploying the restore feature later today/tomorrow. There were some delays because of the amazing response from AppSumo users.
Overall, I'm excited and very thankful to all AppSumo users.
But it is not a standalone plugin. It needs another plugin (Updraftplus) to make it work. Do we need to buy that plugin or the free version works well?
Hi I have try the Updraftplus(free) + Backupsheep And Updraftplus(Pro) + Backupsheep There's some different if you use Updraftplus(pro) + Backupsheep The Updraftplus(free) won't have wpcore.zip but Updraftplus(pro) does. If I am using Cloudways and using the VULTR servers, can I already connect via the Vultr connection? I guess I should be able to create some connection via SSH, right? I need to look more under the hood there but I recall seeing cloudways server backups as an option and also some SSH options.
A: Hello. R1Soft is designed for full server backups and its sophisticated software. BackupSheep is more like a generic tool to backup websites and databases. Right now you can backup and in a day or so you will be able to restore from UI as well.
A: Hi. Yes, it's completed. Just doing some final cleanups and UI tweaks. It's more of a connector than a plugin I think :)
You basically drop a file in your WordPress directory OR install it as a plugin and then BackupSheep will connect with that URL https://yourwebsite.com/backupsheep-db.php (file name will be random) to download database backup.
I will post an announcement when as soon as It's live.
Q: Hey Backupsheep Is it possible to backup storage to storage?
For example I would like to backup my S3 to Backblaze?
Thanks.

Q: Hello there!
This tool looks really like a tool that I need those days!
I was looking at UpDraftPlus' Migrator feature.
Are you planning such a option as well, or will a download of the backup files and uploading to a new destination be "as easy too"?

Right now roadmap is packed. So I'm not giving ETAs anymore. If there are more users then we can surely expedite it :) Otherwise 2-3 months.

I think we have resolved all major issues with WordPress plugin with new update we pushed today so we can focus on restore feature now.

As long as you connect your DigitalOcean account with BackupSheep then we can automate snapshots for any servers/droplets and volumes.
