Q: GDPR DPA for the CDN availabe? Server location?

Thanks for bringing BerqWP to AppSumo, it sounds great! However, the CDN as a keay feature seems not to be useable by EU customers. Here's why: Under GDPR, using a CDN involves processing personal data such as IP addresses. Transfers of this data outside the EEA are only permitted if strict legal safeguards—like Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision—are in place. To maximize compliance and minimize legal risk, BerqWP should offer an option to restrict all CDN data processing to EEA servers, provide a Data Processing Agreement (DPA), and clearly document all data flows. This approach is not the only way to be GDPR-compliant, but it is the most straightforward and privacy-friendly solution for EU customers. Can you please clarify whether or not you plan to offer this, and if so, when? Thanks!

A: Thanks for your message and for raising these concerns.

We use Cloudflare CDN behind the scenes, and Cloudflare has publicly stated that it is GDPR-compliant. If you're still concerned about data transfers, we understand completely — and that’s why:

CDN usage in BerqWP is optional. You can easily disable the CDN feature from the plugin settings if you prefer not to use it.

If you have a preferred CDN provider that you believe is more aligned with GDPR requirements, you’re absolutely free to use that instead.

Additionally, if you're offering services or handling client sites, it's a good practice to include a note in your privacy policy stating that a CDN (e.g., Cloudflare) is in use. GDPR primarily requires transparency — as long as your users are informed, and you’re not sharing data without consent, you're on the right track.

Thanks!

Hi,

I would be interested in this application too, on the APPSUMO page it is declared as GDPR compliant.
Question: is it compliant or not?
Thanks

Thanks Hamza for making this explicit. Just to make clear: If I enable CDN within BerqWP, it will automatically use Cloudflare, so if I prefer another GDPR compliant CDN like Bunny CDN or Key CDN, I will have to set up manually and outside of BerqWP? Or do you plan to offer a user choice of CDNs within BerqWP?

With CDN enabled in the BerqWP plugin settings, the plugin will use Cloudflare CDN. If you disable this setting, you’re free to use any other CDN service like BunnyCDN or KeyCDN, and no additional configuration is required.
