The product is fine and I used it for a few years until I got an email saying that they were going to delete any videos over 20 hours of storage in like 2 weeks. At Christmas.
That was definitely not the terms of the LIFETIME deal I bought. So I scrambled to get non essential videos deleted.
Super shady and made me much more wary of AppSumo even though I have purchased a lot of great deals here in the past.
I purchase on appsumo only for lifetime deals and I am very specific in what I want from those. Had this originally said 20 hours only I likely would not have purchased. This was essentially like my video storage for short videos as well as for ease of communication creating sops etc but now I have to look for a new solution because I certainly won't be spending more money with a company who changes the terms of a deal I already paid for.

Berrycast has renegged on it's Lifetime deal. Now my account says it is limited to 20 hours of recorded videos. I can't add more videos because I have 50 hours of videos. I bought 3x Appsumo codes from them in 2020 for unlimited usuage for 20 users. Now it is unusable for all of us.
I've emailed their support line 4 times over the last 2 weeks to ask about it and have not received any response.
Also, even if you do reneg on the deal and refuse to honour the original contract, at a minimum you could make it easier for me to remove videos to get under 20 hours. But for the hundreds of videos I have in Berrycast, it will be very hard to do.
I've used Berrycast for regularly for a few years. It's a been regular part of how I communicate. It still says "Appsumo" on my account right next to the 20h limit. For them severly restrict my account, with no communication at all to me, shows a complete disregard for someone who up to now was a big supporter of their product.
They are completly untrustworthy and I would never suggest someone to use their service.
I received an automated response that they were going to close my lifetime account today. I asked their support about it and this was their response:
"This is a system generated email showing the inactivity on your Berrycast account over the past few months. For us, this is an indication that the platform is not being utilized. Our average user engages with our platform once a week. Given that 4 months is a decent amount of time to detect usage patterns, we are taking this step to keep our data storage efficient. If you want to keep your account active then use it effectively."
I dislike companies that engage in this practice. Also, the response was terrible.
This seems to become a trend. You buy a lifetime deal and suddenly the company invents new tiers where you get pushed into a subscription making your lifetime deal meaningless and worthless.
This happend with berrycast. They now offer ai summaries of your videos- but not for us appsumo buyers. I bought the highest tier here on appsumo- but now they have an Enterprise tier on there website- and i can either upgrade to monthly paying or just miss out on this features. Not cool.
