I have a number of products, and email is a big part of our outbound strategy. It got expensive fast when we were sending to a lot of people — and worse than the cost, I had to throw away some domains because large chunks of the lists we sent to just bounced and ruined my 'inbox placement'. That's the part that really stung. A domain takes months to warm up and build a reputation on. Then one campaign to a list full of dead addresses tanks it, and you're starting over.
