Not usable for terms & conditions

I answered every question in the Policy Generator to create Terms and Conditions for our SaaS, and the output was unusable.

Some of what it produced:

- "We offer a [object Object]-day free trial" appears three times - a raw code error that made it into the legal text.
- Governing law, jurisdiction and the company's state of organization all read "United States," which isn't a legal jurisdiction.
- Many section headings are blank, including Amendment, Content Removal, Service Warranties and International Data Transfers, and a Data Processing Agreement link points to nothing.
- Two sections are both numbered 9, and the survival clause cites the wrong sections.

It would take longer to find and fix everything than to write the terms from scratch. For legal documents, a generator that fails like this is worse than none, because you can't trust what it left in.

I don't know how it does with Cookies or Privacy Policy because I stopped using it and refunded it after the T&C failures.

Hi,

Thank you for such a detailed review, and we are sorry the Terms & Conditions generator let you down. You were right on every point. Your examples let us find and fix each problem, and the fixes are now live:

"[object Object]-day free trial": fixed. The trial length now shows correctly ("We offer a 14-day free trial") and appears once, in the Free Trials section.

"United States" as the jurisdiction: the State/Province field in your company details now lists real states. The Terms now say, for example, "organized under the laws of Delaware, United States", and governing law and jurisdiction use the state too.

Blank headings: Amendment, Content Removal, International Data Transfers, and the DPA link were blank because the generator never asked the questions behind them. It now asks, and the DPA link uses the URL you enter. Service Warranties has been removed. Any section that doesn't apply to your answers is now left out entirely rather than shown as an empty heading.

Numbering: the duplicate section 9 is gone, the survival clause cites the correct sections, and subsections are numbered without gaps.

We also fixed a few related issues we found while testing, such as free services getting billing clauses they don't need.

If you'd like to try again, open the Policy Generator, check that your company details include your state, and click Regenerate on Terms & Conditions. Documents generated before the fix don't update on their own.

If anything still looks wrong, please email us at [email protected], and we'll look at it right away.

Thanks again for taking the time to spell this out. It made the product better.

Himel,
Consently Support Team.
