Buggy!

Unfortunately, I had to refund this as after three weeks, the support has not been able to resolve the embedded player glitch. This is the only feature I was interested in. Will check in future if there are any advancements to this resolution and reconsider.

I am just posting audio podcasts, but so far this is gonna be HUGE win!!

I wanted to start a few different podcasts with myself or maybe some others and was settled on taking out basic hosting service with another host called Captivate.fm. The main reason was you could have all the shows you want, but pay per the amount of downloads you have. The basic plan came what 30,000 or so a month so more than enough to play around with a handful of shows. For some reason I decided to check App Sumo and bam there was the Disctopia offer. And clutch I can also have several different shows no problem, and no download limit, and pay once for lifetime (at least five years I hope) deal? Sold. And after messing with the service for a few weeks I can easily give at A- to Disctopia. Now again, I am just speaking of posting audio podcasts only, and yes I do see you can do video and audiobooks and music, but I am not doing that at this time. But speaking for podcasts it is close to perfect, especially considering the hopeful lifetime deal!! And if for some reason your podcast is heavy with merch they seem to have some really neat ready to go integrations with products already set up to sell etc, very interesting. Certainly all of the main element of a podcast host are given with Disctopia, the analytics are standard basic type, nice embed player, badges, 301, trackable analytics you can use as well if you have, otherwise again their Free in house analytics are definitely adequate certainly to get started with. I jockeyed around with an episode artwork to get it to look right I locked it pu somehow and it say for days as blank image. After letting it be and trying again nothing seemed to work. I emailed support and just like they said in 24 hours they responded said they will take care of it and n the email I sent them I included the artwork I wanted and amazing they even put it on for me!! I see others complaining on support but Disctopia seems pretty attentive. I am really really happy with this host, and I have used most of them or had access to to shows on them as I work in podcasting, I am just stupendously ecstatic with the App Sumo deal, BUT even without the deal and their regular pricing, just in the podcasting realm alone, their price and value is one of the best in all of podcasting!! And if for some reason you are heavy with merch or plan to be, this is the best host for you I know of period. Thank you Disctopia for this deal!! Just another reason to also be App Sumo PLUS bc you save money on top of VASTLY saving money on great incredible software and services, mostly business focused but practically applicable to anyone as well. Sorry, forget to mention the iOS App is basically unusable. I choose to use my Google login with Disctopia and I can't figure out how to get n that way on the app. Either way the app looks pretty undeveloped and this is nt a deal breaker but it might nice to at least see you shows stats.

Broken. Will be asking for a refund if not resolved soon.

It looks slick, yeah. But it doesn't really work, and it's filled with bugs and inconsistencies.

First, I asked the devs if it would match my use-case. I don't want to create a podcast or music tracks. What intrigued me here was the video uploads of 50GB/mo. I wanted to upload videos then share them with the embedding feature on my site for my clients.

I tried uploading a small sample video (30 secs, in mp4 format), and the video doesn't play. There is no video to be seen at all. Disctopia sees it as an audio track (which is odd, because the video had no sound). That's the biggest issue, and for that reason alone, I will need to return it.

Then there are the other weird issues.

When entering your address details, the fields for City and State literally don't work. They're there, but you can't fill them out. You can give them your Street Address and Apartment number, but they clearly don't care what city and state you're in (okay, fine, I don't want to give them that info anyway).

Then there are these bizarre required file sizes for profile images. I figured, "they want a nice clear image, no biggie"--- NO. It's everywhere. Your image isn't a perfect square? BEGONE. Pixels aren't 1400x1400? NOPE. Disctopia will have to spending more time editing thumbnails than doing anything else.

Then there's the really bad news. They've been at this forever. There's no indication these things will be fixed. Comments here date as far back 2021. Between the little grammatical errors sprinkled throughout the site, and the QA section here answered with AI--- they're all just signs the developer has checked out.
