Q: Instagram DMs and Facebook Messenger.

I need to understand in detail how DM Champ works with Meta, specifically Instagram DMs and Facebook Messenger.

Do you have a full tutorial showing how to set it up correctly, including automated replies, follow-ups, and customer conversations?

I also want to understand Meta’s rules around messaging and whether there are any risks of my Instagram or Facebook account being restricted or banned when using DM Champ. Does DM Champ use Meta’s official APIs and have safeguards to make sure the automation stays within Meta’s policies?

A: Hi,

Happy to walk you through it. DM Champ connects to Instagram DMs and Facebook Messenger through Meta's official Business platform (the Graph API), not through any unofficial login or browser automation. You authorize it with a normal Facebook login, select the Facebook Page (and the Instagram Business or Creator account linked to it), and Meta then delivers the DMs to DM Champ and lets it reply on your behalf. Because it goes through Meta's own approved integration path, using it is the same category of thing as connecting any Meta-approved inbox tool, and it does not put your account in the "unofficial automation" risk bucket that gets accounts restricted.

The full setup guides, step by step with screenshots, are here: https://help.dmchamp.com/messaging-channels/instagram-dms and https://help.dmchamp.com/messaging-channels/facebook-messenger. They cover the prerequisites (Business or Creator Instagram account linked to a published Facebook Page, admin access in Meta Business Manager, disabling Meta's own away messages so they don't outrank DM Champ), the connect flow, how to build the AI Agent that answers conversations, keyword and comment-to-DM automations, and a troubleshooting section for the usual gotchas. Follow-ups are covered here: https://help.dmchamp.com/ai-automation/follow-ups.

On Meta's rules: the main one is the 24-hour messaging window. Meta only allows a business to send a message to someone within 24 hours of that person's last message. DM Champ enforces this for you: replies to incoming DMs and follow-ups scheduled inside the 24-hour window go out normally, and anything that would fall outside the window is not sent (it is skipped and logged rather than forced through). There is no way to reopen an Instagram or Messenger conversation after the window closes, and DM Champ does not try, which is exactly what keeps you inside policy. Beyond that, the usual common sense applies: it is built for answering people who message you, not for cold outreach, and keeping your replies relevant and non-spammy is what keeps any Meta account in good standing.

If you'd like to try it, connect the channel following the guide above and send yourself a test DM from another account. Let me know if anything in the setup is unclear and I'll help you through it.

Best,
Sohaib
