Q: Hey brian, awesome tool!
Just discovered it minutes ago and really like what I see.
As my agency is located in the EU we have to follow the GDPR really closely to avoid legal problems.
Are you (or will you -> when?) GDPR compliant?
If not: Would there be any chance to export the whole brand kit with all the files linked in it + HTML/CSS of the brandpage to host it on our own/our clients servers?
Thanks in advance and greetings from Germany!
Jens
Thanks Jens.
We have had our platform audited and it has passed with no vulnerabilities for first-party and third-party cookies. We don't have a consent management platform integrated, so technically we would not be GDPR compliant currently. We do have a feature where you can download a brand guideline to a PDF that contains all of the links and files.
Thanks,
Brian
Hey Brian,
1) when I, as a web developer myself, technically check this demo here:
https://app.yourethos.io/guides/supermush-brand-guidelines/
Then this bunch of cookies are getting set without permission (for example Google Analytics):
PHPSESSID
_ga_FYR5CCP***
_ga
_ga_XV24GQ7***
_gcl_au
mp_67a370bcfd293da3a5d1cd8613d3****_mixpanel
So what do you mean with "vulnerabililities for first-party and third-party cookies"?
Is Google Analytics only included in those demo previews? Or also in the brand guidelines we create with your software?
If you have a "real world" link of a non-demo brand guideline for me, I would be happy to test that too for cookies, if you want.
---
2) The PDF export is awesome, but I also want to allow my clients use the user interface of the website. So this isn't sadly (all) what I was searching for.
---
3) Is there any chance that ethos will become GDPR compliant in near future? Or that you could offer at least branding guidelines, that doesn't set any cookies tracking cookies?
---
4) Are those branding guidelines allow to be embedded via iframe into another website? Maybe I could use that, to only load the iframe if the user gives the "GDPR okay" in our own cookie management suite. So this could maybe a solution / workaround.. at least for now. As I want to use your tool so badly for our clients and projects ;-)
---
5) Is/will ethos be available in different languages? Or can we translate the brand guidelines by ourselves?
---
Thanks in advance for clarification!
Hey Jens,
We plan to launch an analytics feature soon, so we have GA set up on all of our brand guidelines. We completed a GDPR audit from a third party and they didn't find any vulnerabilities on our site. Here are a few other brand guidelines built on Ethos that you can look at:

You can invite your clients to collaborate on Ethos with your team, but we currently don't have a consent management platform integrated into Ethos. This has been added to the public roadmap, which you can view here: https://trello.com/b/LpiXnkcN/ethos-public-roadmap. If you don't want cookies on your brand guidelines we could exclude GA from your URLs. You could potentially iFrame the brand guidelines into a GDPR compliant platform too, but we haven't done this yet with another client.
We don't support language translation, but we have it on our roadmap. Most clients use the browser default translation to change the text to their local language, which is supported.
If you have any more questions you can email us at team@yourethos.io.
Thanks,
Brian
Hey as89,
The support widget will disappear after you publish your Brand Guideline. Here's a guide showing the steps: http://help.yourethos.io/article/how-can-i-publish-my-brand-guideline
Thanks,
