Q: Do we essentially lose ownership of our human creative work when using finetuning?
I think there is a Great lack of transparency here with your listing on AppSumo. Your website you say users cant:
Resell as stock music-You cant redistribute tracks as-is through stock music libraries or marketplaces
Register with Content ID-Do not register generated tracks with YouTube Content ID, Spotify for Artists fingerprinting or similar systems
Claim exclusive copyright ownership-You...

Q: Copyright clarification – what percentage of human input is required
If someone writes the lyrics to a song without any AI input, they have copyright ownership. If they then use Finetuning to create the accompanying music, do they still have copyright ownership? I've read various Qs & As, but it's not 100% clear. I know that AI generated content of any type is not copyrightable, but it's a grey area when human creativity is involved. Suppose a well known band used the song, would the originator have any grounds to challenge them?

Jun 16, 2026A: I am not a copyright lawyer so would advise consulting one on this but my understanding would be that if you are using your own original lyrics then that should be enough human transformation of the AI piece to be copyrightable.

Bumping this and hoping he answers. There seems to be very important questions being avoided.

Thank you Stuart; I can't wait to start trying out FineTuning.
I'm hoping that Governments will eventually tackle this issue and set down in stone where we all stand. I'm a designer, and am hugely concerned that microbusiness owners are being advised to use AI logo generators to save money. Generic and non-copyrightable. We all need to know where we stand on AI generated material of all kinds. ;)
Q: API Endpoint /enhance-lyrics
The API endpoint /enhance-lyrics is not documented and seems like a core feature to include. Also it is not clear if it costs against our credits. But are we allowed to use this endpoint?

Jun 15, 2026A: Hey thanks for the question. We didn't consider making this an endpoint as we don't put a cost for it in the platform but expect that to be done with human usage. To be honest, a lot of the API we have developed is for agents to use primarily of course writing your own code the traditional way is also there.
I don't see a real need to create such an endpoint as you could toggle in your own AI...

Isn't /enhance-lyrics front-end facing endpoint only? I thought we may use only the official documented endpoints - not reverse engineer the Finetuning API.

Thanks, I've already had my pi integrate it since I was having issues with the main site ux removing lyrics when choosing options later. That is not intuitive that I will replace all settings and lose what I was working on from exploring, but my agent does a better job anyway. I did describe the hint text format and the generated format used on the front-end, but is there any syntax of lyrics?
Q: Is there a video showing someone type a prompt and hear the track in 8 seconds live?
stuart_ft
Jun 15, 2026A: We don't have a video of this specifically but you are welcome to signup and make a track and you can see it yourself. The longer the track length, the longer it may take to generate.

Q: Why aren't we allowed to claim exclusive copyright ownership?
On your site it says we are not allowed to "Claim exclusive copyright ownership".
If I am the songwriter why aren't I allowed to claim copyright over songs finetuning helps me set to music?
stuart_ft
Jun 15, 2026A: Copyright offices (e.g. the US Copyright Office) generally don't grant copyright to fully AI-generated audio because it lacks human authorship.
This isn't unique to us — Suno works the same way (after their Warner Music deal they even removed "ownership" language and grant users only a commercial license, not enforceable copyright). It's the industry standard for AI music. You get full freedom...

Stuart your response is concerning to me. The OP said they are a songwriter. 1 of the reasons I bought finetuning is because I want to take the lyrics of my songs & have AI generate different musical variations. I don't need finetuning to write 1 word for me. Are u saying that if we share any song lyrics with the finetuning platform we lose our copyright ownership because of your platform rules??

If you are using lyrics which are yours and copyrighted then I would assume that it would come under enough human input to be copyrightable. With AI being such a new technology, there is not really a black and white answer to give here. We certainly do not claim any ownership or anything to what is created.
