Q: Do we essentially lose ownership of our human creative work when using finetuning?

I think there is a Great lack of transparency here with your listing on AppSumo. Your website you say users cant:

Resell as stock music-You cant redistribute tracks as-is through stock music libraries or marketplaces

Register with Content ID-Do not register generated tracks with YouTube Content ID, Spotify for Artists fingerprinting or similar systems

Claim exclusive copyright ownership-You...

Q: Copyright clarification – what percentage of human input is required

If someone writes the lyrics to a song without any AI input, they have copyright ownership. If they then use Finetuning to create the accompanying music, do they still have copyright ownership? I've read various Qs & As, but it's not 100% clear. I know that AI generated content of any type is not copyrightable, but it's a grey area when human creativity is involved. Suppose a well known band used the song, would the originator have any grounds to challenge them?

A: I am not a copyright lawyer so would advise consulting one on this but my understanding would be that if you are using your own original lyrics then that should be enough human transformation of the AI piece to be copyrightable.

Q: API Endpoint /enhance-lyrics

The API endpoint /enhance-lyrics is not documented and seems like a core feature to include. Also it is not clear if it costs against our credits. But are we allowed to use this endpoint?

A: Hey thanks for the question. We didn't consider making this an endpoint as we don't put a cost for it in the platform but expect that to be done with human usage. To be honest, a lot of the API we have developed is for agents to use primarily of course writing your own code the traditional way is also there.

I don't see a real need to create such an endpoint as you could toggle in your own AI...

A: We don't have a video of this specifically but you are welcome to signup and make a track and you can see it yourself. The longer the track length, the longer it may take to generate.

Q: Why aren't we allowed to claim exclusive copyright ownership?

On your site it says we are not allowed to "Claim exclusive copyright ownership".

If I am the songwriter why aren't I allowed to claim copyright over songs finetuning helps me set to music?

A: Copyright offices (e.g. the US Copyright Office) generally don't grant copyright to fully AI-generated audio because it lacks human authorship.

This isn't unique to us — Suno works the same way (after their Warner Music deal they even removed "ownership" language and grant users only a commercial license, not enforceable copyright). It's the industry standard for AI music. You get full freedom...
