AppSumo’s Poor Notification Cost Customers Their Refunds

I want to express my disappointment with how AppSumo has handled communicating this issue to customers.

Unlike previous incidents, such as with the Yapper app, where customers were promptly notified by email, this time no direct communication was sent to inform purchasers about the problems with GoZen’s service or the limited refund window.

Based on the question posted by Digital007 on Jan 4th 2026, it seems I was not the only one that did not get the email.

Most customers reasonably expect that once they make a purchase, they will be informed promptly if any issues arise—especially when it impacts access to a tool they rely on.

It is not realistic to expect every customer to continuously check the deal page or sales page for updates after their purchase, particularly after months have passed.

This lack of proactive communication effectively left many users unaware of the problem until it was too late to request a refund.

Furthermore, the statement that “GoZen has been unwilling to cooperate with us” feels one-sided when it seems AppSumo has also fallen short in cooperating with your own customers by not providing timely updates or guidance.

Moving forward, I hope AppSumo seriously considers improving its communication strategy for such cases to ensure customers are kept fully informed and supported, as this is critical for maintaining trust in your platform.

Did not honored their Appsumo commitment, now asking me to subscribe, what a waste of my money

I find that way too often, tools like these pop up on AppSumo, take users' money, and make excuses as to why they will not honor their commitment. I bought this tool and didn’t use it much because it was garbage at the time, but I thought I would hold on to it for improvements. Fast forward to today, and it’s asking me to subscribe; apparently, AppSumo didn’t pay them. What does that have to do with me? It’s a contract. Plus, the tool is still garbage; there are a million better alternatives, and they haven’t improved it one bit. Stay away from this product.

Charged after being cancelled

I cancelled this service 6 months ago and was just charged over $300. I sent an email and made a phone call, which was very unprofessional on the phone; I couldn't understand half of what he was saying. I was told I would be refunded, but I have not been, so now I have to report this to my credit card company. Absolutely do not subscribe to GoZen.

and you has issue with appsumo on 6th dec 2024. How come our account impacted ? please advice, has to be fair.

Lifetime Account Downgraded - Disappointed Experinse

Like many other Sumo-lings, I logged in today to find my account downgraded to a free trial due to an AppSumo-GoZen payment dispute. While I understand business conflicts happen, paying customers shouldn't suffer the consequences.

AppSumo should have proactively emailed all affected users and automatically processed refunds instead of requiring manual requests before May 30th. Discovering my purchased product is unusable only after logging in is unacceptable.

I trusted AppSumo as a reliable platform, but this experience—being caught in the middle with no proactive communication—has seriously damaged that trust. Requesting my refund now.
Not recommended until AppSumo improves how they handle such situations and protect customer interests.
