Q: Is it possible to keep the secrets, the files, permanently?
Is it possible to maintain some files permanently in the storage in the cloud? There are books, guides that we share with our students and we need to have just the ability to share with them but I'd like to have it forever, those PDFs online in order they can download them when they want, no expiration date. Is it possible to do that or do we have to continuously re-upload the same file because it's going to expire automatically? Thank you.

A: Hi there,
InPrivy is primarily meant for short-term storage and quick sharing. However, you are free to set an expiration date far in the future and disable the opening limit.
No updates and due to very high costs, no immediate plans get certified. We don't have 40k+ to spent on various certificates requested by some of our (potential) customers. We simply don't make this kind of money by selling discounted products via AppSumo.
Q: Am I able to use an InPrivy link on a button on my website?
If yes, how many documents would someone be able upload at once and do I receive an alert - email letting me know that my client has uploaded a document or documents? thank you

A: Hi there,
What do you mean by "link on a button"? You can create a Public Sharing URL and link to that. And yes, you can enable notifications (see "Inbox") to get an email when something was shared via that link.

A: Hi there,
The InPrivy part in this scenario is quite small and I cannot answer the other parts. But as for #3, that's possible via our API (no file upload though). The rest is automation via a tool like Zapier and has nothing to do with InPrivy.
Anders, thank you for replying. This is a bulk use case, I was trying to find out whether download links for ebooks could be secured with InPrivy via shareable secrets as a more affordable alternative to DRM encryption for ebooks in order to discourage piracy.

That sounds like a lot of manual work if you have many links to generate and share. We do offer an API that allows you to create shareable secrets, but that endpoint is not able to add files, so only text content.
But other than that, you could use InPrivy for this use-case, yes.

There is a limit of 10 files per share, with a size limit of 500 MB per file and it counts towards your account storage.
