Q: Bug: Publishing fails with Wordfence (missing User-Agent)

Hi,

We found what appears to be a bug in the publishing process that may affect any WordPress site using Wordfence with its default settings.

The verify, categories, and authors requests all include a browser User-Agent and work correctly. The publish request, however, is sent without both a User-Agent and Referer, causing Wordfence to block it with HTTP 503. After that, your IP is temporarily blocked, so even subsequent valid requests fail.

Could you please make the publish request send the same User-Agent as your other requests? Something like:

Katteb-Connect/1.5.0 (+https://katteb.com)

would be sufficient. A Referer isn't necessary, sending a User-Agent alone resolves it.

We've temporarily allowlisted your IP, but other WordPress sites running Wordfence are likely to encounter the same problem.

Happy to provide logs if needed.
