How does it work for the 2 or 4 device license(s)? For example, if I use it on my mobile phone and desktop PC, it will require 2 device licenses even though I am the only user?

Yes, you’re absolutely right. On AppSumo, the plans are structured based on the number of devices, not users. So mobile + web = 2 devices.
But keep in mind that the pricing isn’t linear — for example, 3 codes give you access on 4 devices, not just 3 :)
I had almost the same question. 1 device = 1 license needed. Each phone, tablet, or computer needs its own license. The slight exception is that you can assign 1 license to the browser app and access it from any PC with internet. Note: The web app allows you to assign and re-assign your licenses to new devices at any time (phone, tablet, desktop app, web app, etc.)
