Q: Device clarification
Hi there,
I want to be able to use your service on my Android phone = 1 device. I also want to use it on my desktop/laptop but I only use either my desktop or my laptop one at a time. Does this mean I would need 3 licenses because these are 3 devices or 2 licenses because 1 App and 1 PC.
Additionally, I read about the WebApp. If I was to use the WebApp, could I use it from either my laptop or desktop or any other device that connects to the WebApp? Are there any drawbacks to using the WebApp compared to the software download?
If I have a 2 hour webinar, set Letterly to record, do I need to interact with it during the 2 hours until I'm ready to turn off the recording?

The number of licenses depends on how you plan to use Letterly on your computers.
If you use Letterly on your Android phone and the Web on your desktop/laptop, then 2 licenses will be enough. The Web can be opened from different computers within the same web license.
If you want to use the native desktop app on both your desktop and your laptop, then you would need 3 licenses in total: one for your Android phone, one for your desktop, and one for your laptop.
The main difference with the Web is that it does not include Dictation, which lets you insert text directly into the app or document where you are working, for example in an email client, browser, or document. With the WebApp, you record inside Letterly first, then copy the result wherever you need it. The advantage is that it works cross-platform and across different computers under one web license.
For a 2-hour webinar, the current limit for one continuous recording is 90 minutes. So you would need to stop and start a new recording at some point. After that, you can merge the recordings into one note.
Yes, Letterly supports speaker recognition and can mark speakers as Speaker 1, Speaker 2, etc. It usually works well with up to around 3 speakers. With more speakers, the result may depend more on the audio quality and how clearly people speak.
You can start recording offline. The audio will be stored locally until you are connected to the internet. However, transcription and speaker recognition require an internet connection :)
This deal is device-based despite if you are using one device at a time.
1. In resume, for your case you need 3 codes = 4 device slots
📱Android - 1 device
🖥️ ⊞ Desktop app - 1 device
💻 Laptop (desktop app) - 1 device
🌐 WebApp access - 1 device
2. Yes, you can access the WebApp on any device as long as you sign-in with the same email.
3. Currently, a single recording is limited to 90 minutes.

Your welcome!
Thank you for the prompt reply. If there are multiple people in the recording, is your service smart enough to identify (denote) Speaker 1 vs Speaker 2? Is there a maximum number of people it will identify in this case?
Can it do this offline, or does it need online resources?
Good question!
I'm not a member of the Letterly staff 😅
- Letterly does have speaker identification. However, diarization models usually lose a lot of precision when the number of speakers increases or depending on audio quality. Less than 4 speakers is recommended
- You can use Letterly offline for recording. All other app features (transcription, rewrite, sync) require an internet connection.
Yes, Letterly can identify different speakers within a recording.
However, the speaker labels are generated in a generic format (for example, "Speaker 1," "Speaker 2," etc.). If you'd like the final output to use actual names, you can achieve this using a custom rewrite prompt that replaces the generic speaker labels with the participants' names.
Regarding offline use: you can record audio offline, but transcription, rewrites, speaker identification, and syncing require an internet connection.
Final Question (I think). If I was to get Code 1 - 1 Device License does that mean it's automatically taken up by a WebApp license? If yes, can we use the WebApp license on any device, including a smartphone (iPhone or Android) and tablets without issues? Yes of course, they would need to have a stable internet connection.
For 1 redeemed Code, 1 license is assigned to the first device you sign-in, whether it is the Mobile App, Desktop App, or WebApp. The active device appears in your account manager.
ⓘ Although the WebApp can be used in a browser on any device using the same email, it does not include live Dictation, as it requires access permissions.
➜ For several personal devices, I recommend 3 codes = 4 devices
