Q: This looks amazing, and I'm about to click the button to buy.
My question, I'm a solopreneur, so there is just one of me in the business. I would technically be the only host. The basic plan allows for 2, and after reading all of the Q&A I see that each host gets 40 hours of transcription, so it seems I could get 80? How are the hosts differentiated? Would I need to use two different emails?
Also, I understand that you have Zoom and MS Teams integrations. If we use MeetGeek do we not record with Zoom and just record through MeetGeek?
I love that you can upload video from other places. I'm a coach and record a lot of group teaching sessions. I've dreaded the editing part. It seems that this could be used as a tool to help with that. Do you have any use cases where someone is using it for recording/editing their courses?
In your case, you would have to use a secondary email, in case you go over the 40h limit with your main email.
If that happens, you can still merge the results of both accounts in one place and search all the calls. There are multiple easy options to achieve this (like cc-ing the primary email in the calendar invite) -> we can help you to set this up easily.
Meetgeek stores separate recordings, which are unrelated to Zoom's recordings. Students can easily access them through private/public links.
You can easily use MG to highlight or clip important parts of a teaching session. We have multiple teachers on the platform, recording their lessons. Our record of participants so far is 81 students in a meeting!
Thank you Dan! That hellps a lot. Using a second email is not a problem. It sounds like MeetGeek is exactly what I've been needing. I'm definitely joining.
"I love that you can upload video from other places. I'm a coach and record a lot of group teaching sessions. I've dreaded the editing part. It seems that this could be used as a tool to help with that."

if you want to upload files more than record them as a host, they dislike this.
To clarify, uploading files for transcription is part of what is included on our deal here. We do vouch for users to take advantage of this feature, as it is part of what we offer here on AppSumo. Still, it is not our main focus, and should be seen more as an additional feature, not the main one. That is why some limits exist, so we can focus on our actual purpose: to be a meetings first tool.
We do, however, apologize for any inconvenience on that end and really hope that you can use all that Meetgeek is offering! You'll see that there is a lot to explore with our platform :)
I appreciate your comments. I had been recording meetings using Butter.us & Google Meet, instead of Zoom. I have several videos to edit now. But, knowing that MeetGeek integrates with Zoom, today I upgraded to the paid level of Zoom - as much as I absolutely adore Butter.us and their extra features, (maybe you could integrate with them??) the paid level of Zoom is actually less $ lol.
Hi @Cara_Creative_Chaos! Thank you for your reply!
We're happy to hear about your interest in Meetgeek and hope that our tool will be able to help you in your meetings! :)
As for integration with Butter.us, at the moment we don't have anything planned, but we'll analyze your suggestion internally to see if it can be possibly added to our roadmap. We appreciate your input very much!
Q: HI
If I had say a 15 host account
can I sell a 4 x HOSTS accounts to someone ?
so they can run a team of 3 plus themselves
totally independant from me ?
so I can not see any of their meetings ? as though
they had a seperate meetgeek account with 4 hosts available ?
now if one of those hosts goes over 40 hours, do
you send the bill for overage to them ? or to me ? as super admin ?
so if i bought the plan, i want to give a host seat to my partner for his personal use, will I be able to see/listen to his calls and stuff? or can it be set as a completely separate private workspace for his use?
The Teams management în Meetgeek is independent from the the hosts seats allocation under your License.
The article you reffer to is related to the Team management. So, yes, your partner's account can be a separate account for him to use.
However, if you decide to create a Team in Meetgeek you could benefit from the automatic share it comes with. The Team Lead will see the meetings the other Team members have.
As mentioned in another answer, Meetgeek is primarily designed as a tool for meetings, not for general file transcription. While we do have this functionality built-in, our main goal is for our platform to assist you with your meetings, making them easier to navigate and to extract their information.
We do not frown upon your use case, but it is not the main focus of our platform. Still, out of the 40h limit, we let users use up to 10h specifically for uploads, in case of exceptions like migrating some old recordings, or having a recorded call from another platform.
This is pretty much the same answer as the other one, but hopefully it helps as further clarification.
Apologies for any lack of clarification! As mentioned, as a new tool, we have to put our focus and resources on features that we believe are part of our intended design. In the case of Meetgeek, those would be our meetings feature and capabilities, including developing new integrations and furthering our strengths on that end.
Our transcription tool for uploads is more of an additional feature, which is why it is limited, as it is not our main focus. We do understand that this can lead to some frustration and we apologize for the inconvenience. Still, we hope that you can give our other functions a try and see all that we have to offer! :)
Q: I see some of my questions are not posted and my review is not showing also !!
so you censor the questions and reviews ?
teachers who give say 15 classes a week, and I attend 2 of them, they say I can have a copy of the recording or let me record it myself because the file size (of their recording ) is usually multiple gigabytes they will not faff around using someone elses software for 2 of the 15 recordings. and there are downloadable resources I use , mp4 and mp3 most things I use are not from meetings but downloadable. which I would like to sometimes transcribe and edit. I think you are blinkered , if a teacher has got a system working they will not appreaciate a student saying use this software for some of your classes things f up online, and they have spent time getting things working time is very short so they keep to the same even when " superior software " comes along. so you will miss the hobbyists custom with your exectutive hosts only. which will reflect in the number of sales for you.
As stated in another reply (which I'll copy here to make sure that it's not lost amongst the other questions and answers), we are very sorry for not having addressed all your questions yet (we're getting there!). As mentioned by Raluca and in some of our previous comments, while we truly appreciate your intent to use Meetgeek as a transcription tool, it is not our platform's main design at the moment. However, we can always improve, and everyone's feedback is very valuable on that end!
We do still hope that you find use cases for Meetgeek outside of just uploading files for transcription. We have a lot to offer and really hope that you can really explore all of our possibilities. ;)
We believe automatic recording should be decided by the host of the meeting, which is the person responsible for preparing and running the meeting as well as ensuring full transparency and compliance for participants. For exceptions, we offer the alternative to upload recordings.
Having said that, we are interested to find out more about your specific use case and what prevents you from using it directly with the conference tool. If we don't have an integration for the conference platform that you use regularly, do let us know to add it to our public roadmap. We're also happy to jump on a call or discuss the details using the chat messenger.
Why use it online instead of uploading the recording afterward? Everything is automatic + you will have the full context of the call, including: - the participants of the meeting (the meeting will be automatically shared with them if you wish so) - each paragraph of the transcript will have the corresponding speaker - you will have the actual date of the meeting in history in order to easily find it when needed - you will have access to meeting insights like talk rate, sentiment, etc for participants
Here is how we see the current deal fit to be used: - used with one or more Conference tools, depending on your use case - the 40 hours limit will be used only for the meetings hosted by you. Should you go over the limit, you can still use a secondary account to supplement the number of hours. - for the meetings where you are not the host, you can send an invitation to the host to install Meetgeek - you can even use one of your available host seats in your License to upgrade the account of the new host - he/she will have access to multiple templates, insights modules, etc + will also get 40 hours
We want to keep Meetgeek sustainable while helping you collaborate and make the most out of your meetings. We believe the deal is fair enough for somebody already in search of such a tool.
I see some of my questions are not posted and my review is not showing also !!

Q: Are you listening?
I purchased a code and have been testing the platform before I leave a review. My major concern is that the MeetGeek team isn’t listening to Sumolings' input regarding upload limits. Why don’t you just make to upload limit the same as the 40 hour limit. Your repeated suggestions to just make the everybody a host is not practical. I am the host of around 50% of my meetings and am a participant in the rest of my meetings. This is the case for most people. The fact that you are limiting only 10 hours of the 40 to uploading is very shortsighted. Please reconsider this limit. I would like to continue using your platform for the smart meeting AI functionality, but your upload limit is making that impossible.
Regarding this question: Is the 10 hours/month upload limit per host 40hr/month allocation? the answer is yes, the limit is per host.
Q: Is it possible to have one host and 80 hours of recording on one account?
and when I stack, I'd like the option to have one host and 160 hours of recording per month. Is this possible? We use zoom A LOT and I'd love to transcribe everything :)
In case you go over the 40h limit, you can use secondary accounts and make calls shareable between those accounts easily. We can help you set it up, in case you decide to give MG a try!
We are tracking new features requests and integrations on our public roadmap (https://trello.com/c/WWQSzNSn/3-%E2%9E%A1-your-feature-request-%F0%9F%92%AA) so it would be great if you could add a comment with this suggestion.
We are focused on providing users the capability to record meetings transparently and this means integrating with conferencing platforms that allow for compliant recording prompts and consents.
Because of this, we don't offer a screen recording/audio recording app for the desktop or browser directly.
Still, you can use the uploading functionality for situations where you have a meeting recording from another platform.
Q: Please re-consider and allow us to record even if we are not the host.
I currently use a competitor (previous AppSumo deal) and it allows me to record all meetings on my calendar, even when I'm not the host.
Two things needed for this to be useful for me: 1. Need to stack for more hours. I have 4-6 hours of meetings per day, six days per week. I need to be able to stack for up to 150 hours per month 2. I need to be able to record even when I'm not the host. I attend 10 or 15 important meetings per week where I am not the host. So, without that option, I have to stick with my previous app.
A: Hi @ProjectKickstart! Thanks for the questions and feedback.
For the time being, as mentioned, we're not allowing people other than hosts to record using Meetgeek because of 2 reasons: 1. We consider the host to be responsible for recording the meeting; 2. We use native API integrations with Zoom & MS Teams with this limitation but with the advantage of offering a more stable solution in the long term (when compared to other tools).
Still, both your feedback regarding this and increasing the hours limit are very important to us! We've seen several requests from the AppSumo community regarding that, so we're analyzing them to see if and when any changes are to be made to the deal terms.
We'll be sure to update everyone if we alter the deal! Hope that you'll decide to give Meetgeek a try regardless ;)
To clarify, currently we have working capabilities within Zoom and Microsoft Teams (while Google Meeting integration is on the horizon). Which other tools would you like to see Meetgeek integrated to? We're always analyzing what new platforms we could integrate to, so your feedback is very valuable!
Is it possible to add a search widget to a webpage and via the search widget search for a word in a set of videos? Uscase: Shared team folder, with the option to search for a word or a phrase in a set of meetings. Membership site: Allowing members to search through meeting recordings.
Thank you. Follow up question - how long can we store videos for? Another tool that was here previously doesn’t limit retention (in other words unlimited storage) which is very important for the use cases I mentioned. Is it possible?
To clarify, we have default retention of 6 months for the video/audio data on all plans. You have unlimited access to transcripts & notes. If you have further needs that require different limits, you can reach out directly to us so we can analyze your case.
Hopefully this information helps!
Q: After reading the following Q and A , one could assume that you were not so hard about uploading files as a main use !!
and thus customers may have purchased who do not have paid zoom accounts, do you want them to refund or will you facilitate their use case ?
Q Can I upload an audio or video file I want to transcribe ?
A Hi and thanks for your question!
Although our main use is through Zoom (paying accounts) and Microsoft Teams, we have big plans and we intend to release soon integrations for other major conferencing platforms. If you don’t use Zoom or Microsoft Teams, you can still upload audio or video files and obtain similar results.
Hopefully this information helps!
Q This app looks fantastic.
You mentioned in the introduction that you can upload audio and video files.
Does this mean I can upload: 1) previously recorded podcasts? 2) Youtube & Vimeo videos? 3) Previously recorded (stored on a computer/Google Drive) videos?
Thank you in advance for your response.
A Hi there,
You can upload any media file (.mp4, .mp3, .wav, .mpeg, .avi). You can check the status of the analysis on the Uploads page and you will receive an email when the output is available. Also, the Uploads have a separate section in your past meetings collection.
Thank you, Iulian
Q Instead of uploading a video or audio, can I just play the video/audio and have the words transcribed as found in otter.ai
A We have in the roadmap the possibility to press a button and record while getting the transcription. (https://trello.com/c/OqukVO49/19-dictation-manual-recording-button)
I've made a note to prioritize this.
Q You mentioned that uploading audio and video files is a possibility (this is good news for those of us who use the Zoom free version or something else). Is the transcription output quality any different from natively-recorded calls in Zoom premium? Are there any disadvantages (other than the time and inconvenience) to uploading audio/video files ourselves?
A Hi there,
There is no difference in the transcription quality! Using Zoom natively will give you the speaker names and some extra metrics. Uploading gives you the speaker number and almost all of the MG functionality.
Q: hi Says Gmeet is on the roadmap - when?
I reviewed current roadmap and could not see it listed
Timeframe to delivery?
thanks

Q: Hi I purchased meetgeek, but now in the questions I see that regarding uploads you say there is max of 10 ...
hr per month,
when I read the questions there seemed to be a few interested in the
uploading feature and a positive spin was given to it , eg
following 3 answers.
https://appsumo.com/products/meetgeek/#q809083
https://appsumo.com/products/meetgeek/#q808706
https://appsumo.com/products/meetgeek/#q808697
but later it seems frowned upon,
I purchased MG with the majority of use wanting to be uploaded videos.
for instance I attend online tai chi and chi gond classes
as a participant and would like to upload videos
to cut out important parts for practice .
so basically use meetgeek for editing function
and maybe to have some audio transcribed and cut into
sections also. as others have alluded to .
so do you frown upon this use case ?

hi
no it does not clafify,
why the limit ?
another asked, but no answer was given.
it is a function of the software that some users
would like to use more than the primary function
it surely does not cost you more for this function so why limit ?
As I said, I purchased when the answer to uploading was just answered casualy
and it was not always mentioned that there was a limit to
the amount of uploads.
so what if someone uploads 15 hours per month ?
do you ban them ?
maybe you can properly clafiy.
if someone has purchased meetgeek primarily for editing uploads
because it was not clear before ?
would you rather that they refunded ???
thanks

We do still hope that you find use cases for Meetgeek outside of just uploading files for transcription. We have a lot to offer and really hope that you can really explore all of our possibilities. ;)

May 14, 2024A: Hi there,
Thank you for the question!
In case you go over the 40h limit, you can use secondary accounts and make calls shareable between those accounts easily. We can help you set it up, in case you decide to give MG a try!
Thank you

Q: Is it possible to integrate with Crickle?
Previous appsumo deal.

May 14, 2024A: Hi there,
We are tracking new features requests and integrations on our public roadmap (https://trello.com/c/WWQSzNSn/3-%E2%9E%A1-your-feature-request-%F0%9F%92%AA) so it would be great if you could add a comment with this suggestion.
Thanks

Q: Is there a Mac app in the works so you can easily record meetings on other platforms (besides zoom/gmeet)?
Or for screen recording? Spoke.ai has this which makes it convenient to record though I’ve had many technical issues with them.
Dan_Meetgeek
May 14, 2024A: Hi @jake467,
We are focused on providing users the capability to record meetings transparently and this means integrating with conferencing platforms that allow for compliant recording prompts and consents.

Two things needed for this to be useful for me:
1. Need to stack for more hours. I have 4-6 hours of meetings per day, six days per week. I need to be able to stack for up to 150 hours per month
2. I need to be able to record even when I'm not the host. I attend 10 or 15 important meetings per week where I am not the host. So, without that option, I have to stick with my previous app.

May 14, 2024A: Hi @ProjectKickstart! Thanks for the questions and feedback.
For the time being, as mentioned, we're not allowing people other than hosts to record using Meetgeek because of 2 reasons:
1. We consider the host to be responsible for recording the meeting;

What you need is fewer meetings :) :)
Just kidding of course!
Verified purchaser
Ok, ok, Team-Genius. ;)
But, I get paid for these meetings, so they're worth it. ;)
Thanks for the humor and comic relief. Onward we go!
Q: How long before Google meet integrations?

May 14, 2024A: Hi there,
We're planning to release it by the end of Q2 this year but we like to deliver earlier than promised :)
Thanks

Q: Hi, I use a free zoom account for 1:1 calls will this work?
Does this have the ability to record and transcribe skype calls, or is it planned? (Skype to landline/mobile/Skype calls)
Thanks
Dan_Meetgeek
May 14, 2024A: Hi @Ohfavoo!
1:1 calls is a great use case to use Meetgeek for.
It works if you're either:
- A licensed Zoom user (doesn't matter which plan)
- A basic free user part of an organization that has a licensed user
Skype is not planned yet, instead we integrate with Microsoft Teams.

Q: hi So, to discuss an area you seem to be steering away from.
Some customers may not like google and may use other platforms for meetings,
but will want to use your transcribing facility.
so why not allow some users to sign up with an email that is not
google or microsoft and then give them the conditions that so doing
will stop them being able to synch their zoom ( which they may not be using)
to the calendar.
Basically, you might be missing out on a segment of customers
who are moving away from google and or zoom !!
how to facilitate them ?
thanks

May 14, 2024A: Hi @bhagsy! Thanks for your question.
To clarify, currently we have working capabilities within Zoom and Microsoft Teams (while Google Meeting integration is on the horizon). Which other tools would you like to see Meetgeek integrated to? We're always analyzing what new platforms we could integrate to, so your feedback is very valuable!
We appreciate your input very much! :)

Q: Hi.
Is it possible to add a search widget to a webpage and via the search widget search for a word in a set of videos?
Uscase: Shared team folder, with the option to search for a word or a phrase in a set of meetings.
Membership site: Allowing members to search through meeting recordings.
Dan_Meetgeek
May 14, 2024A: Hello @Team-Genius!
Yes, you can certainly achieve that using the "Past meetings" page.
You can search using keywords through all of your past calls, including those that you missed or those shared by others.
Moreover, you can also define teams and make calls shareable within those teams so that you can search in a similar way.
We'll be happy to support you on this, should you give MG a try!

Thank you.
Follow up question - how long can we store videos for?
Another tool that was here previously doesn’t limit retention (in other words unlimited storage) which is very important for the use cases I mentioned.
Is it possible?
Hi @Team-Genius! Thanks for your question.
Although our main use is through Zoom (paying accounts) and Microsoft Teams, we have big plans and we intend to release soon integrations
for other major conferencing platforms. If you don’t use Zoom or Microsoft Teams, you can still upload audio or video files and obtain similar results.
Hopefully this information helps!
Q This app looks fantastic.
You mentioned in the introduction that you can upload audio and video files.
Does this mean I can upload:
1) previously recorded podcasts?
2) Youtube & Vimeo videos?
3) Previously recorded (stored on a computer/Google Drive) videos?
Thank you in advance for your response.
A Hi there,
You can upload any media file (.mp4, .mp3, .wav, .mpeg, .avi). You can check the status of the analysis on the Uploads page
and you will receive an email when the output is available.
Also, the Uploads have a separate section in your past meetings collection.
Thank you,
Iulian
Q Instead of uploading a video or audio, can I just play the video/audio and have the words transcribed as found in otter.ai
A We have in the roadmap the possibility to press a button and record while getting the transcription.
I've made a note to prioritize this.
Q You mentioned that uploading audio and video files is a possibility (this is good news for those of us who use the Zoom free version or something else).
Is the transcription output quality any different from natively-recorded calls in Zoom premium? Are there any disadvantages
(other than the time and inconvenience) to uploading audio/video files ourselves?
A Hi there,
There is no difference in the transcription quality!
Using Zoom natively will give you the speaker names and some extra metrics.
Uploading gives you the speaker number and almost all of the MG functionality.
