Hey, do AppSumo Users with LTD 2+ automatically get access to newest AI models in the pro plan (Gemini 2.5 Pro, GPT 4.1 for now)?
Are the any other restrictions or is the LTD2+ identically to the pro plan?
Thank you and best regards

Q: Will you be adding the ability to search additional websites?

I've been testing your AI writer which accesses the Semantic Scholar database. The results have been impressive. That said, what would make Paperguide even greater is the the ability for users to add websites to their search depending on their academic research focus. For example let's say I am researching birds, and I want to include ebird.org or allaboutbirds.org in my search. This would give the user the ability to add additional credible resources for their specific research. Please, Please, Please add this functionality.

A: Hi. Thanks for your question. As of now, the demand for this use case is very limited from our user base. We will consider this feature request in future based on the demand from users. In the current priority of things, we have other priority feature development (again based on user feedback and demand). Hope this helps.

Q: Blog writing functionality?

Would paperguide be able to write blog post based on the academic resources available to it's platform. For example if I wanted to write a weekly 2500 word blog on different birds. Hoping PG could generate a blog that would basically be post ready that readers would enjoy reading.

A: Hi. Thanks for your question. While Paperguide is built focused on research writing, you can definitely write blog articles on research topics using its writer. It will cite only research paper and journal sources though and not general content from the web. The writer supports templates for articles, essays, research papers, case studies and literature reviews.

Q: Is there a way to ONLY search through academic journals (abstracts ok)?

Essentially being able to run a search in which it will not check all the garbage content blogs out there, and it will only search through academic journals (open access, and in the abstracts of paywalled ones as per you previous response that's fine).

This is a problem with Perplexity if you wanna do any academic research, there is no way to exclude all the junk of the open web like gizmodo, pc magazie, healthline etc etc.

A: Yes. Paperguide is built specific to scientific and academic research use cases and as such it restricts itself to searching journal databases (through semantic scholar). So you wouldn't get any generic websites or blogs like the way perplexity would do.

Q: Collaboration and Team use

Hi,

I'm in charge of a small research center where I guide researchers in their research.
I want to buy and own this tool but I would like to make it available to some researchers without sharing my access credentials.

The idea was that some researchers could use the tool for a certain period of time and then I could revoke the access credentials and offer it to other researchers as they need it.

Is it possible to share a project or allow one or two researchers to access a specific / different workspace or can this application only be used by one person and/or one workspace?

If I buy Tier 2, can I “lend” my account to a researcher without giving them my account credentials, like creating a login for them so they can revoke it whenever they want?

Thanks

A: Hi Camalazao,

Thanks for your question. You can purchase our tier 3 version which supports 3 member users (1 main user who can add 2 other users with access to same AI features but with different user email, storage etc) or tier 4 which support 5 member users (1 main user who can add upto 4 other users). The main user can revoke the access of member users and allot it to anyone else if needed. Regarding collaboration features, you can share the reference manager folders with other users - they can be either member users of your subscription or others who register on paperguide (free account is enough) - the sharing option can be for editing, for adding comments against references in your folders or for just viewing. They just need to accept the invite that you send when sharing a folder.
But the free users won't have access to the unlimited AI generations, writer and other tools.

Please do reach out to us through support chat in the help section of our website or write to us at hello@paperguide.ai for any further queries

A: Hi. Thanks for your question. You can use the two tier 4 licenses separately to allocate it to 10 different team members (including 2 main members who will have access to allocate and re-allocate it). There is no provision to combine them so that you can have a single main user and 9 member users.

Regarding re-allocation, yes, it is possible for the member seats. You can change the member who is being allocated the seat.

Q: Link from responses to highlighted text on page

Hello! When I am in pdf view and ask questions, the app offers a subscript with a number showing me the page with the source of the response. Clicking this takes me to that page. Would you be able to add to the roadmap that clicking takes me to the page and highlighted text of the source? This will save time and having to scan through all the small text on a page. Thanks.

Q: Knowledge base

Hi, can Paperguide be used as a knowledge base and reference manager for coding/scripting or technical research? For example, like ChatGPT Projects, can I upload multiple files to build a knowledge base that the AI references when answering questions? Also, does Paperguide support AI instructions or custom prompts to guide the AI based on these files? If yes, how many files can I upload, and what’s the max character or file size limit? Some AI tools have strict limits, so I’d like to know Paperguide’s constraints. Thanks!

A: Hi. Thanks for your questions.

Paperguide's Referecence manager also acts like a specialised version of Chatgpt Projects. You can use it to create folders and add reference documents and use them to write documents using these reference documents for citation.

In reference manager, you can upload files of upto 50 MB or 1000 pages of text pdfs. In case of OCR scanned pdfs, upto 20 pages per file is allowed. You can upload 30 files at a time and the total number of file uploads is dependent on the storage limits (20 GB for tier 1 etc)

Can you pls elaborate on what kind of custom prompts you are refering to? Our writer does support custom prompts in Ask AI but would like to understand what specific use case is that you are looking for.

Q: I get a lot of weird 'nonsense' answers in the columns.

What is the roadmap for this? Will this ever be as good as elicit? how does it compare to elicit? I tried to create some custom collumns and often it gave nonsense responses.
Like for example here when it was asked to provide a summary of a paper it said "Oh the website offers a lot of free downloads"

A: Hi Matt,

Thanks for your question. You can find our roadmap here:
https://paperguideroadmap.notion.site/

Regarding comparison with elicit, we are also soon launching Deep Research Reports (expected in 2-3 days) and you can check and compare for yourself on the quality post that. We definitely have some finetuning to be done in the current AI search and literature review features which we are working on. Regarding your specific example though, the issue seems to be due to the fact that the book is not open access and even its first page/absctract is embedded as a screenshot within the web page. In such cases, it alternatively picked up the content in the URL (https://academic.oup.com/pq/article-abstract/45/180/375/1549588?redirectedFrom=fulltext). While we are trying to minimize such errors, this is an iterative process as the LLMs are usually trained on more generic scenarios and edge cases continue to be added to the prompts from our end. Currently our system works well in case of most common publishers where documents are open access and also uses the abstract in case of papers behind paywall. But in case of some websites where security blockers are there or in cases like the above where the abstract is embedded and not directly available as text, we do face issues like this. I have added this case as a ticket with our engineering team to check the issue in detail and address it.

You can reach out to us for any further help on our support chat in the help section of the website or by writing to us at hello@paperguide.ai

Q: Can it help with these tasks?

I have a few questions regarding whether or not this tool can help me with certain tasks.

1) Can it help me find a research gap based on sources I have provided, and then assist me to come up with a suitable title for my literature review?

2) Can it help me write an annotated bibliography for each of my sources? (150 to 300 words per source)

3) Can it write in my voice? Can it take a piece of writing and rewrite it in my voice?

4) Can it automatically create citations from PDF sources and online sources I provide it with in APA style, so I won't have to do it manually?

Thank you

A: Hi. Thanks for your questions. Answering them below:

1.Currently it can help you compare and analyse research papers on a topic using Extract data and literature review features in which you can have tabular comparison of limitations and other parameters (like research question, further recommendations etc) to help you with finding research gaps. You may also use the chat with papers functionality to chat with multiple papers to help you draw the research gaps. However, this is not a fully automated process and is only for aiding your research effort
2. This feature is not available.
3. This personalization is not yet available but we can take it up as feature request based on user demand
4. Yes. (I am assuming the pdfs and online sources are related to research papers, books and journals). When you upload your pdfs into reference manager or add their DOI / URLs, it generates its citation. You can have the citation style as APA or any others from among 1000+ citation styles by setting the citation style option in your General settings section.

Q: Questions about this tool

I have a few questions about this tool.

1) Is it able to handle at least 20 uploaded documents per paper? I want to upload PDFs of peer-reviewed papers that I've selected, and I need the AI to use the information from those papers to help me write my literature review.

2) Is the AI able to cite the sources where it got the information from, while also making sure to provide page numbers? My main concern with tools like this is the accuracy of the information, since I worry the AI will just make things up, as AI is known to hallucinate. It would be way too time-consuming for me to cross-check everything manually though, especially if I don't know where to look. So, to deal with this problem, I need to know the page numbers where each piece of information came from, in order to verify that it's accurate. Are page numbers provided?

A: Hi. Thanks for your question.

1) You can use the option of selecting "my references" or a folder within it as AI knowledge sources when using our writer to write your literature review. Please refer to help page of our writer which has demo video as well as feature details
https://paperguidehelp.notion.site/AI-Writer-111980d21a2d801bb425d0fe010b5797
2) In chat with pdf, literature review and extract data, the citation will show you the paragraph/section from which it has sourced the information, when you ask a question or extract specific info. In the writer, it currently gives only the paper from which it sources and does not give page number. We will work on this feature request.

Q: How is your AI Tool the best for Food Research, Solutions for Sourcing, Contamination, and Public Collaboration?

I'm researching food sourcing, harvesting, pesticide and chemical contamination, ingredient origins, and brand transparency. Which is better and why: PaperGuide, Wonders AI (Read Wonders). Which one helps me gather credible sources, then organize findings, and share them with the public via links? My priority is a tool that ensures transparency, lists all sources used, and supports collaboration with the public on food benefits and risks. Can yours show proofs for:
-Sourcing and Harvesting
-Pesticide and Chemical Contamination
-Food Processing and Extraction
-Ingredient Origins and Farming Practices
-Name Brands and Product Transparency
How does your SaaS tool allow me to publicly display a comprehensive list of all sources used in my research so others can verify the information themselves and prove the above?

A: Hi. Thanks for your question. Paperguide's AI search and literature review, along with chat with pdfs can serve your purpose as they have share option as well which helps you share public links with others. Sharing a quick sample below on the topic of your search "food sourcing, harvesting, pesticide and chemical contamination, ingredient origins, and brand transparency"
https://paperguide.ai/search/94265a32-fc67-43b4-8cf4-0735fb222470/
Apart from the research assistance features, paperguide also has collaborative reference manager to save your references and pull AI summaries for them, add notes etc. It' also has AI writer which should help you quickly write articles, essays, lit reviews or research papers along with citations in 1000+ citation styles.

Readwonders is relevant as well for your use case (if you don't need the writer tool) as it can help with similar features for your search, organizing and sharing, although you will have to check the quality of response on both platforms and take a call. Readwonders has multi-step research feature, a feature similar to our upcoming Deep Research reports that we expect to get live in couple of weeks time.

Please do reach out to us on support chat in help section of our website or email at hello@paperguide.ai in case you have further queries.

A: Hi. Thanks for your question. The storage is for meant for the reference manager which essentially can be used as your knowledge base. In terms of features, tier 1 and tier 2 will have same quality except that the feature limits would vary. For example the number of columns you can extract and download at a time in literature review and extract data feature will be 8 vs 50. Similarly the number of papers/pdfs you can select at a time in extract data will be 25 vs 100. Automatic Full article generation feature in AI writer limits per month will be 3 vs 20. In our upcoming deep research reports, this limit will be 10 vs 50 per month.
