I will cancel my appsumo plus because of this

I keep buying lifetime deals with my AppSumo Plus account, and unfortunately, I’m losing money and time. This keeps happening again and again. I trust these apps and invest in them early to support both the developers and my own business, but here we are another project has shut down. Im gonna cancel my account and never renew again.

Scam

Acquired by Riverside.

No grandfathering into benefits for the people who paid. I stupidly paid almost $300 thinking I was investing in my business for the long-haul. Just a really gross way to do business all around, and the last AppSumo Lifetime deal I buy.

The reason I no longer buy Lifetime deals...

I loved Pipio, how dare they take it from me...!

This product outcome is the very reason I no longer invest in so called 'Lifetime Deal' products. You invest not only your money and your time, but you also build processes around these things, and then the carpet gets ripped from beneath your feet and you simply loose that chunk of your business. I have a great fondness for the good old software on a disc days, because once you bought it, you owned it, for as long as your computer would run it, and it mattered not whether the creators ran away, disappeared, sold or closed the business, because that little disc of code was yours; you owned the disc and as such, owned the licence to use the code on that disc, regardless...!

In a crazy way, these fly by nights have indirectly done me a favour, because I've designed my business structure to be much more resilient these days, using open source where possible, or much more mainstream and more expensive software, in order to cope with these likely eventualities...!

I don't even bother to contact Appsumo Any longer because responses became invariably canned. Again, this has helped me, as I have been able to learn from this and design my business processes in such a way as to avoid the same out of date canned items.

Requesting Refund

I paid $169.00 for this product, only to find out that the company was acquired by another firm, which is now not honoring their lifetime deals. AppSumo should consider changing the terminology from "lifetime deals" to "seed funding for startups" because that's more accurate.

What happen to Pipio

I purchased this product through AppSumo specifically because it was advertised as a lifetime deal. Now the service has been shut down, and the product I paid for is no longer available.

This is extremely frustrating and unacceptable. I relied on this software to create my explainer videos, and now that entire part of my workflow has been taken away. When customers pay for “lifetime” access, they should not simply be left with nothing when the company shuts down.

I want to know what AppSumo intends to do for customers who paid for this lifetime deal. Where is my refund, credit, or replacement product? AppSumo should provide a reasonable alternative for customers who supported this company based on the promises made through your platform.
The company’s decision to shut down may have been outside AppSumo’s control, but customers should not be the ones forced to absorb the entire loss. I paid in good faith, and I expect AppSumo to stand behind the deal that was sold on its marketplace.
I am requesting either:
A full or reasonable refund;
AppSumo credit equal to what I paid; or
Access to a comparable replacement product that allows me to continue creating AI-powered explainer videos.
Please do not respond with a generic explanation that the company is no longer operating. I already understand that. I am asking what AppSumo is going to do to make this right for customers who purchased a “lifetime” product that no longer exists.
I expect a clear and fair resolution.
