My overall rating for the Plus membership is based on two key factors:
• Trust: 1 out of 3 stars – Not because mistakes happen, but because of how they’re handled. A marketplace builds trust through its response to issues, not by being perfect.
• Deals: 2 out of 2 stars – The value is solid. You get access to great deals, exclusive offers, and discounts.

As a Plus member with over 20 purchases in the last few months, I’m invested in the platform’s success. Plus membership should mean more than just access to deals—it should offer a higher level of service and flexibility when issues arise. This experience stood out because it differed so markedly from my usual positive interactions.

I upgraded to a higher tier specifically for team functionality and additional users—the only features differentiating this tier from the basic plan and justifying its higher price. These features were presented as ready to use, but they weren’t actually available and are still in development. Without them, there’s essentially no difference between the tiers.

While I understand small developers face challenges with timelines, AppSumo should have either verified these features existed or disclosed they weren’t ready yet. I purchased during the holiday deals and, like many businesses planning for the new year, didn’t immediately implement every feature. When I discovered the missing functionality and reached out, AppSumo’s response was rigid: the 60-day refund policy stands, even for Plus members, despite the fact that they sold me features that didn’t exist yet.

I’m happy to wait, but I can’t risk being stuck with a higher-priced tier if these features never materialize. For Plus members especially, this situation seems avoidable with either better upfront transparency or more flexible policies when key features are delayed.

I want to support both AppSumo and the developer, but their rigid policy leaves me no choice but to protect myself with a refund before the window closes.

AppSumo remains a valuable platform with great deals—my positive experiences reflect that. This review isn’t meant to be harsh but constructive feedback. Greater flexibility and transparency would turn AppSumo into a marketplace I can trust completely—not just for deals, but for how it stands behind its offerings.
