Customers appreciate the AppSumo Plus Yearly Plan for unlocking $100 in coupons, exclusive discounts, and added purchase protection. They love the value it offers, the 10% discount, and the extended deal periods. Some have expressed disappointment with the short validity of the $25 coupons and limited benefits. Despite this, the plan remains a smart purchase for those looking to expand their tool stack.

Not worth
Tried this once and I liked it initially, but then we tend to get glued to finding deals on AppSumo rather than focusing on if the products are even useful. Honestly most products aren't even useful on Appsumo and the LTD/LifetimeDeal they promise, not all startup products survive even 1+ year for Plus membership to allow a full refund if the company goes bust.
Biggest negative of the Plus membership is the $25 x 4 quarters so because they aren't giving you $99 coupon straight away, you have to keep coming back on AppSumo to find good products every quarter and not just buy one product for $99. Due to this, I already lost 2x $25 coupons, but when I needed it, there were no coupons available. And to make use of the 10% discount on Plus membership, you better keep browsing products all the time to find the right product. It is nothing but Amazon for Apps
Also with the advent of AI coding tools, it is way easy to develop your own products now, so let alone Plus membership, but none of the new products on Appsumo feel worth a dime

Years of Loyalty, Bitter Disappointment: AppSumo Sacrifices the Select Badge and Community for Quick Cash
I’ve been using AppSumo Plus intensively for several years now. Sure, there have been some genuinely great products in the past that were worth every penny—I’m not denying that. But if I sum it all up today, all that remains is massive disappointment.
Two main issues are to blame: AppSumo Plus itself and the totally baffling handling of the “AppSumo Select” label.
1. The “Select” Badge Has Become Worthless – No Quality Control Left
The “AppSumo Select” badge was supposed to stand for verified quality, trust, and truly exceptional deals. Instead, it’s now handed out to deals that turn out to be a total waste of money and broken promises.
Take the prime example: Supermachine. I alone invested nearly $400 in this tool. The result? The tool is effectively unusable. The credits I bought have been devalued or rendered worthless—not just for me, but for the entire AppSumo community. Countless buyers got burned here.
The excuses from the founder (Stuart) and AppSumo’s responses are simply baseless. In my view, this product completely misleads buyers. That such a product ever carried the Select badge—and worse, still does—makes me furious. AppSumo knows perfectly well what went down, yet they keep sweeping it under the rug, leave things as they are, and still market it as a “great deal.”
There are plenty of other deals I’ve bought with similar patterns. I’ve been trying to contact some developers for three years over serious security flaws, hacking attempts, and major malfunctions. While I’ve been ignored for years, sellers in the AppSumo comments respond with false claims to paint themselves in a good light. They simply claim they’ve already reached out to me just so new buyers get the impression that support is being taken seriously. False claims left and right—and I have every email saved as proof.
The fact that you can’t publicly respond to these false statements in the AppSumo comments and expose them plays perfectly into AppSumo’s and the seller’s hands. People complain, the seller cooks up a false claim, and there’s ZERO chance for public rebuttal. Money lost → AppSumo and the seller celebrate. That’s exactly why such sellers are protected. They’re just cashing in.
2. No Lessons Learned – Problem Sellers Are Rewarded Again
AppSumo hasn’t learned a thing from past mistakes. There are plenty of deals where users were misled, abandoned, or simply left out in the cold. And what happens? They still keep their Select badge.
The height of shamelessness: after all the justified criticism, the same Supermachine founder (Stuart) recently launched a new tool called “finetuning.” And what does AppSumo do? They slap the Sumo Select badge on it again! That’s a total slap in the face to every honest buyer in this community.
3. Why AppSumo Plus Is Financially Not Worth It at All
Financially, AppSumo Plus has been a pure loss for me:
Half of my Plus credits went into tools that later turned out to be junk or useless disappointments. Since these credits aren’t transferable or refundable, my money is simply gone.
If I weigh the meager 10% discount against the losses from worthless tools and expired credits, I’d be far better off without AppSumo Plus. Much better off.
4. Disappointing Support and Pure Damage Control
I’ve reached out to the AppSumo team several times and openly shared my concerns. What changed? Nothing. From Plus support, I expected genuine understanding and decisive action. Instead, you’re served watered-down attempts at placation while the system keeps running as before.
Conclusion
I truly wish the users in this community the best. But AppSumo needs to make a clear choice: Do you want to support an honest community or just rake in quick cash from unreliable sellers and side with those who break their promises? Right now, it’s sadly the latter.
For me, AppSumo Plus is dead in the water. I won’t renew my Plus account—I’m leaving AppSumo—and I hope they eventually shake things up internally and finally punish sellers who mislead users rather than reward them.
I’ve been watching for several months to see if the Plus Deal is still worth it, but given how the situation and other deals have been handled, I don’t think anything will change anytime soon. I’m sure not going to see my money again.
Of course, I’m still open to talking with AppSumo. But I doubt they’re interested in someone like me anymore, or in finding constructive solutions.

Nothing but good
The few products that I have purchased thru Appsumo have been solid performers. Product hits the market in very useable form and we are part of the growth journey as they develop into something bigger and better; with our feedback! Along the way, products are always well supported with help only hours away at worst.
Appsumo curates a great selection of offerings...almost too many choices! ;)
Highly recommend....

Good days are gone...no value
I kept my AppSumo Plus membership mainly because of the coupons that are supposed to offset the annual fee. But the way they handle them is disappointing.
My coupon expired just one day ago because I simply didn’t have time to use it. I’m constantly on the road, and missing a deadline by a single day shouldn’t automatically mean losing the benefit I paid for. What makes this even more frustrating is that this limitation isn’t clearly communicated when you sign up for Plus. If I had known that an unused coupon would simply disappear after a fixed period with no flexibility, I would have paid much closer attention. And this isn’t even the first time it has happened to me—it has now happened twice.
What makes even less sense is that, according to your response, the coupon was sent only once on May 4 and remained valid for 45 days. If the coupon is such an important part of the Plus membership value, why was there no reminder before it expired? AppSumo has no problem sending countless promotional emails encouraging members to buy more deals, extending deadlines, and warning that "time is running out." Yet when it comes to a paid member benefit that is about to expire, there are no follow-up reminders at all.
Saying that the expiration date was listed in the original email and on the Rewards page doesn't really address the issue. Most customers don't revisit a 45-day-old email to check expiration dates, especially when they are busy. A simple reminder a few days before expiration would have prevented this entire situation.
Another reason I no longer see value in Plus is the overall quality of the deals. Over the past year, there has been a noticeable decline in the number of truly useful offers. In fact, I think I've purchased only one or two deals this entire year because there simply hasn't been much worth buying.
To be honest, I don't even open AppSumo anymore. There is virtually no chance I will renew my Plus membership. There was a time when I visited AppSumo several times a day, constantly looking for new deals and spending a significant amount of money on the platform. Back then, there was excitement and trust in what was being offered.
Today, that level of confidence has largely disappeared. Far too often, products launch with one set of promises and later evolve into something quite different. Features get restricted, pricing structures change, new limitations appear, separate platforms are introduced, or key functionality ends up requiring additional upgrades. Regardless of the reasons behind these decisions, the outcome is the same: customers feel that the original value they paid for is no longer being honored, and trust gradually erodes.
Over time, the platform's credibility has taken a significant hit. When customers repeatedly see deals evolve into something very different from what was originally promised, it becomes harder and harder to justify spending money there. Combined with the declining quality of new deals and the loss of a paid membership benefit over a one-day delay with no reminder, I simply don't see enough value to continue paying for AppSumo Plus.
