Plus “protection” isn’t worth it when Select deals get gutted a week after Black Friday
We purchased the Yapper AppSumo Select lifetime deal at Tier 4, clearly advertised with 15,000 recurring monthly credits.
However, just one week after the Black Friday sale, our “lifetime” plan was unilaterally downgraded to a one‑time bucket of 40,000 credits, supplemented only by a minor discount on future purchases.
This isn’t a small tweak—it’s a wholesale change to the economics of what we bought:
The original Tier 4 lifetime plan’s value was more than double that of Yapper’s standard Creator package.
The downgraded “lifetime” plan is not just inequivalent; it is substantially worse, offering significantly less value than what we were sold and, in many realistic usage scenarios, worse than just buying Yapper’s own Creator plan directly.
For an AppSumo Select deal—promoted heavily over Black Friday—this is unacceptable. AppSumo should take responsibility for a Select partner gutting the core value of a lifetime deal a week after the sale ends, instead of hiding behind the refund policy and acting like nothing is wrong.
Given this experience:
Affected AppSumo Plus members should seriously consider canceling their Plus memberships, assuming a prorated refund is possible.
Since AppSumo has failed to support its customers and stand behind a Select lifetime deal that was materially changed right after Black Friday, a boycott of the platform is also a justifiable response.
At this point, AppSumo Plus feels about as valuable as a few measly single‑ply sheets of toilet paper after a hard night out eating really bad one‑star tacos—a nice idea on the sales page, but not something you’d rely on when things actually get messy.

Dec 12, 2025Hey Jason, really appreciate you sharing your honest feedback. I know the change to Yapper’s credit structure has been incredibly frustrating for a lot of folks and it’s completely fair to feel disappointed.
We posted an update on the deal page explaining the situation. In short: Yapper saw much higher usage than expected and had to adjust their plan to keep things sustainable long-term. You’ll still have lifetime access to the tool, but the monthly credits were switched to a one-time bucket with optional purchases for more credits. If that setup doesn’t work for you, the deal is fully covered under our 60-day refund policy. The original deal had a ton of promise, and we know the change hit harder than anyone wanted. We also pushed hard for alternatives. The problem was that any recurring model, even reduced, still put Yapper underwater.
We totally understand why Plus might feel disappointing in this scenario. That said, Plus is designed to provide ongoing value beyond any single deal, including perks like exclusive discounts, early access to new deals, and member-only offers across the marketplace. While no system is perfect, we’re continuously working to improve protections, communicate changes more clearly, and ensure members can make the most of their Plus membership.
Again, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. Feedback like this helps us learn and keep improving!
