I wanted the pauses gone, and the edit still mine

Every long recording had the same problem. The words were fine. It was everything between them, the breaths, the pauses, the three seconds of deciding what to say next, and cleaning that up by hand took longer than the recording itself.

The tools that would do it for me all wanted the file first. Upload, wait, and get back a flat video that someone else's server had already decided the shape of. That is a strange trade for footage you have not published yet, and it gets worse the longer the recording is.

So SilenceTrimmer does all of it on your own machine. It reads the waveform instead of transcribing speech, which is why it cuts on the sound rather than guessing at words, and why nothing has to leave your computer for it to work at all.

The second decision was to stop pretending the edit is finished. It writes an EDL, an FCPXML or a Premiere XML, so the cuts land in your own editor as a real sequence you can still argue with. If you would rather have the finished file, it renders that too.

There is no account, no quota and no charge per minute. You activate once and it verifies offline after that. I would rather it kept working the day I stop building it than tie it to a server that has to stay alive.
