Q: Cut Costs: Store Videos on Google Drive

I could really use 4K video recordings. Do you think it would be possible eventually to connect Vento to our own Google Drive/OneDrive/Dropbox? This would let us handle storage ourselves, saving you from worrying about storage costs and management.

Another great option would be to be able to record in 4K. But force the user to download the video so you don't have to assume hosting storage costs. In simple words, you wouldn't be hosting any 4K videos.

A: Hey There! Recording in 4k increases our cost substantially. It nearly triples the cost. For those that are interested, we're actually sending recording data chunks from your computer to our server which cost money not just from a storage perspective but also from a processing perspective. Processing also requires us to stitch those chunks together in a meaningful way and allow you to edit them appropriately. It pretty labor intensive and uses a tool called FFMPEG to do it (many big companies like Loom, Google and Netflix, use the same technology). Additionally, a video you see playing in vento isn't actually an MP4 but a series of files that have to be played together. Only when you download the video will you see it in the MP4 format as we then do a conversion to stitch those files to together and convert.

Hope this makes sense. We may be able to do 4k in the future but it will come with a different pricing tier for sure.

I see ok! Sounds complex! Better to stick with what you have. Thank you so much for the work you do.
