Q: License management?
Do you use Freemius for your license management?
One concern I have is feedback I found from an online review mentioning how the licensing or integration with Freemius isn't smooth which caused Security Ninja plugin on the reviewer's website to suddenly become deactivated (or downgraded to the free version), which is a concerning security risk if the plugin has issues communicating with Freemius to maintain its Pro licensing.
Can you comment on whether this has been improved or resolved, and better yet, do you have a license management system that allows agencies to issue unique licenses for each client website?
Wouldn't want to use a single, universal license on client websites if possible, unless there is a secure way to hide it from anyone seeing it.

Mar 26, 2025A: Hi there,
Yes, we use Freemius for license management, and they’ve been a great partner for us for years. We understand the concern regarding licensing issues, and I can assure you that the integration has been improved. The issue mentioned in the review has been addressed, and we’ve seen consistent performance since those updates.
Regarding your question about unique licenses for client websites:
Currently, Freemius doesn’t allow agencies to create individual license keys for each client site. However, you can manage licenses securely from the Freemius license dashboard, where you can hide license and account info from appearing on your client’s website. This ensures that sensitive details remain secure while still allowing you to manage all your licenses effectively.
Thanks for bringing this up, and we appreciate your concern for security!

Thanks for the info, Lars! If the concerns have been addressed (including the universal license key that can be hidden from the client and their websites), then all is good.

Hello - I forgot to add a link to the knowledgebase about hiding account information on client sites - https://wpsecurityninja.com/docs/account/hide-on-client-websites/

Thanks Lars, will have a look. One follow-up question - what if we stop dealing with a client and we no longer have access to their website back-end, or the client wants to cancel our security package and we need to revoke the license? Can we manage their access to the license through the Freemius license dashboard?

Hello iXzenoS - yes you can remotely handle licensing for the websites even if you loose access to the customer website.
