Q: Hi there, I am not sure but isn't this software quite limiting compared to a macro recorder or a mouse/keyboard scripter?

I mean it is still in the works, but it can only handle bowser tabs/links + some online tables? I tried working with the tool and was not able to access anything not in a browser/internet... or at least not to the level I wanted.

This tool doesn't deliver much more than for example https://www.macrorecorder.com/ except for:
- the marketing place
- the nice UI

Would keep this software, if I could control specific actions on my pc and not just browser/internet dependent things. Otherwise, I could just use n8n.io which is to be fair not as intuitive.

Is there a plan to also add the functionality like https://www.macrorecorder.com/? I mean it is installed on the OS so why not? Or am I missing the point here? What other features does Zero Work deliver?

A: Hi there,

The issue you are highlighting is that ZeroWork does not enable desktop app automation.

For most users, it's not a problem. Many users' workspace shifted heavily or, for many, completely to browser apps. Speaking from personal experience, I know not having a desktop automation feature is not a problem for me - I barely use any desktop apps, and the desktop apps that I do use (Discord, Slack, etc.) are also available in browser and hence can be automated with ZeroWork, too.

If you are a heavy desktop app user and do most of your work outside of browser and internet, then I can see how ZeroWork can feel limited, and maybe it is just not the right tool for you. 🙂

I certainly wouldn't compare macrorecorder with ZeroWork, let alone consider it more powerful. Yes, macrorecorder can do desktop automation, and ZeroWork cannot do that, but the level of automation that you can achieve with ZeroWork for browser-based use cases is significantly higher than what you can do with macrorecorder. 🙂

Also, ZeroWork cannot be compared with n8n, as these are two different automation approaches. The two tools can work complementarily to each other but not as substitutes of each other. It's not a question of either-or, it's rather a question of: Do you need API-based automation (choose n8n)? Do you need to automate manual work on UI (choose ZeroWork)? Do you need both types of automation (choose both and work with both tools)?
