So I downloaded Alter and asked it which plan I'd need for 5 hours of meetings per week, recorded, transcribed, notes formatted and put into Obsidian. Here's it's response:
"You'd need: Tier 3 base ($299 one-time)
~272 add-on packs ($2,720/month) to sustain 5 hours/week
Bottom line: This deal works if your meeting load is closer to 30 minutes/week. For 5 hours, you'd need a direct subscription model (if Alter offers one) or a different tool designed for high-volume transcription (Otter, Fireflies, etc.)."
Is this correct???

The AppSumo tier 1 would be enough for your usage unless you want to heavily use Alter for managing your Obsidian Vault (creating files and notes, reworking your structure, pulling detailed reports or research using a vault with thousands of files, etc..)

Transcription is happening on your device, it's unlimited!
And with 7500 requests on the first tier, you should be covered for generating lots of meeting reports :)

So just to clarify, on this AppSumo plan, without putting in an API key for another AI, I could easily record 5 hours of meetings per week, with transcription and speaker identity, have it format and call out tasks from the notes, and put them into Obsidian for me...all on the Tier 1 plan? If so, this is a heck of a deal. Not sure how to set all that up, but makes me want to try!

Yup that's right, no need for another AI!
We have many users with an Obsidian setup, to the point where Alter offers an option to sync the transcript automatically in a folder with the markdown extension so it's picked up and indexed by Obsidian.
