Q: Using search across a Collection
We purchased and use BrandBay to store and manage image files for our development projects. Adding Notes and Tags as well as completing the provided info fields to help identify individual files more accurately for our purposes. Specifically because there are quite a few images that need to be identified by sourced (ie. royalty free purchases, client provided branding and AI generated) to combat future issues related to take down notices or license withdrawals. Unfortunately we are experiencing challenges when searching through Collections based on terms in the Notes or Tags we've applied. Even simple Tags like those we are using to identify orientation 'portrait' or 'landscape' are not being picked up; only the filename is searched with our app. Is this a limitation? Can you provide more detail on how search works please?

Apr 27, 2025A: Hello, and thank you for your question!
There are a few distinctions here that I can give that may help give some understanding on what is currently searchable and what is not within brands and collections. Right now, tags are searchable within a collection, so if you do apply tags to assets, you can use that data in your searches. However some data that you can add to assets is not searchable such as notes on assets or comments.
I noticed that you said you were unable to search through a collection with tags that you have applied, and I would say if this is the case then please reach out to our support team so we can look into this because that functionality should work right now :)
I will also add to this, that we do actually have plans to add some functionality to our tagging and search system here in the near future after a few updates we have gotten some more feedback on. If you do decide to reach out to us in support, perhaps we could also hear your feedback and what types of data you would like to be searchable and how it would be the most intuitive for you to use. We do greatly appreciate user feedback so we would be glad to hear more about your use case!
