You're right, charts on mobile are tough; there is plenty of room for charts to be tall but not so much wide. We've chosen to not alter charts the user has made by turning them into tall rectangles on mobile - instead your chart will grow or shrink to fit the available space. Sometimes this makes the chart text too small to read. Users can click a "View Larger" button in the embed toolbar to view the chart at its original size (with a horizontal scroll bar to see the full width on mobile).

We may add a responsive mode in the future that alters the chart to fit the available space. You can see examples of our chart embeds here: https://instacharts.io/features/charts
