I’ve been using Kortex mainly to move my AI research into NotebookLM faster, and overall I’d say it’s one of those tools that feels incredibly useful once it clicks.

The biggest win for me is how easy it is to grab conversations from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and web pages without the usual copy-paste mess.

That alone saves a lot of time. I also really like the podcast feed feature because it turns research into something I can listen to later, which is surprisingly practical.

That said, it hasn’t been perfect. Looking through user feedback, the main complaints were reliability issues early on, especially around notebooks not loading properly or things feeling buggy.

A few people also called out PDF export formatting and the extra Kortex branding in exports as frustrating. So it’s definitely not a flawless product.

Still, what gives me confidence is that the founder has been very active in responding, fixing issues, and shipping updates. That matters a lot with a tool like this.

If you use NotebookLM seriously and want a faster way to collect AI chats, notes, and sources in one place, Kortex is genuinely promising and already very useful — just with a few rough edges that seem to be improving over time.

The extension is working, but a few key issues remain:

Brief Placement: "Generate Brief" claims to save to Notes, but briefs end up in Artifacts instead.

PDF Formatting Bug: Bold text exports as raw stars (**) in PDFs instead of actual bold text.

Branding Removal: Paid users should be able to disable the "Made with Kortex" footer label on exported PDFs.

Currently, the raw markdown stars and forced branding make exported PDFs unshareable without manual editing. Please fix the PDF formatting and add an option to remove branding.

There are other similar extensions just don't have these issues.

It worked well for a day or two, but then my notebooks disappeared, and Chrome extension features, such as accessing my saved prompts directly within the NotebookLM interface, stopped working.

Although my dashboard still shows that I have a lifetime account, the subscription page says I don’t have an active plan and need to upgrade. At one point, I saw a message acknowledging several bugs and explaining that a fix had been submitted to the Chrome Web Store, with approval potentially taking up to a week. However, it wasn’t clear whether those bugs were related to the missing notebooks, the subscription issue, or something else. I also couldn’t find the message again afterward.

If everything works as intended, this could be a genuinely valuable tool, and I’d consider upgrading to the highest tier. But in its current state, it simply isn’t reliable enough.

I recently saw the YouTube video on this, prior to the Appsumo launch, so I was excited to see it appear here. Kortex provides a valuable tool that fills in the gaps that Gemini Notebook has. For me, it was the ability to filter audio into a podcast so I can listen when exercising. This has always been a headache as GN made it difficult to go through every notebook to see what had generated. That problem is now gone.

I will say, however, that though advertised as such, this NOT possible to use through Spotify. Spotify does NOT allow subscription via RSS feed. So, I'd advise that that part of this description be eliminated. I did find a good one to utilize it through, however. Pocketcasts seems to work flawlessly.
