Q: Just for clarity (as your purpose - clean, simple, dedicated, no fluff, fits well with my scenario) - I have ...
a number of PDF and other file types already, that I share via One Drive but this looks much more professional for clients to access my articles (course -related handouts). So if I add a file attachment to an article, is the file hosted by you, or is it a link to my one-drive or google docs? If by you - is there a limit? And I'm asuming video files need to be hosted elsewhere, eg you tube or vimeo.
A: Files (image uploads via RTE and attachments etc) are generally hosted on our side, yes. We do not have any limit in place, upload as much as you need. But we currently do not offer video uploads. Those are generally hosted elsewhere and are embedded via iframe into articles.
The attachments for articles can be manually sorted in the backend, yes. The files are by default downloadable, there is no way to disable downloads of attached files. You would have to remove the file from the attachments.
You can use eniston with as many employees as you want. We currently offer restriction via a global password or via IP address.
There is no frontend authentication on a user-level in place yet. This is something we will add later this year. Then you can, optionally, set a workspace to "private" and only allow users of your team to log in with their credentials.
Also, each workspace / knowledge base can have a different (custom) domain.
Hey there waldemar_Ramos, this is Ron from AppSumo!
I see you have some clarifications needed from eniston Knowledge Bases. Please kindly reach out to support@eniston.io, or to support@appsumo.com, if there is no reply 🙂
Q: Hi,
Does this have any integration with Google Docs?
I have my KB there and I'd like to import AND export if needed. I'm still testing different KB platforms and it would be a huge pain to not be able to export if we need to. Thanks
There is no direct integration with Google Docs yet. You can export articles from eniston already. But we are soon implementing a better solution for this and will also work in the importer. This will then allow you to import CSV and Excel files.

I see you are having an issue with eniston Knowledge Bases. If this is still happening, please kindly reach out to support@eniston.io, or to support@appsumo.com, if there is no reply 🙂
A: What daily spam? We haven't send any newsletter in a while. If you get system notifications, then you either activated notifications when someone leaves feedback for your articles, or your custom domain is not set up correctly anymore.
Please get in touch so we can figure out why you are getting emails you don't want: https://help.eniston.io/faq/how-can-i-contact-you-directly
This is partly possible with eniston. We currently do not have an option for our "Docs" theme to have multiple versions of a workspace (e.g. v7, v6 etc). Also, the home page is nothing we support right now. Specifically, the mobile frame (custom html) and those 4 boxes ("Installation Guide", "UI Components" etc.).
There is also no "Next" link for our "Docs" theme. But we are planning to add a few options to the themes that can be toggled. We got quite a few more specific requests regarding the themes already and we will come up with something soon.
Q: In your KB, it reads,
"There are currently two themes available: "Default" and "Documentation".
The documentation theme is the one you are currently looking at."
But I don't see any difference between them other than one is purple and one is green.
1) Are there other differences between the two? 2) Are there other themes planned? 3) How easy is it to customize the layout, colors, etc.? 4) Are there any example customer KBs using eniston that you can share?
That was a mistake on our part, apologies. The theme for our own help center was set to the default one a while ago, but is now reversed to the "Docs" theme. Have another look, please.
We will probably add one or two more themes this year, yes. Other than that, we will improve the current themes as well. You are not able to make any significant layout changes within your dashboard. You can change the colors, logo etc, but not the overall layout. You can add your own CSS though, so there you could change the layout slightly if you know how to.
We have not finished our demo workspaces yet, but will do that soon to give a few examples.
You can set a password in the backend, either for the whole workspace or just for single categories. Then you will have to give your client the password.
There is no frontend authorisation in a sign up / log in way.
Are there controls for the passwords? I.e. can we set expirations dates or reset passwords? Can we turn them on and off? Can we set multiple passwords for the same section/article/KB?
Q: Simple yet robust platform.
My question is can the readers of help document comment / ask questions on the topic of the help document? I intend to use this as support material for the students of our school. Students should read and post the comment and then discuss among themselves in the comment thread. Any possibility as such?
Comments like you described them, are not possible yet. Currently, you may enable "Article feedback", so people can rate an article and also leave a comment. But that comment is not public and only visible in the admin area.
You have an interesting use-case though. Might be something we will implement in a future update.
Understand that there is no Q&A type feature. Is there a way to add a code snippets to use a third party feedback tool/chat such as Userback, tawk.to, etc?
I'm not entirely sure what you use-case is, but right now it is only possible to either link to PDF files, add them as "attachment" to your articles, or embed them via iframe (hosted elsewhere). A self-hosted file storage is coming soon, though.
I just want to be sure I understand all funcionalities before making a decision.
1 - I understand I can have up to 8 different domain names pointing to 8 different Knowledge Bases/Workspaces and each of them would have their own set of users that can be editors of 1 or 2 but not all the other KB´s?
2 - Can I have specific contributors with different levels on each KB? For example a person is able to suggest articles but only upon review they can be automatically published. Or a person has editor permissions and can publish whatever they write?
3 - I understand you support unlimited articles and unlimited users. Does this mean that we can implement a registration system for each KB on each domain independent from one another?
4 - In relation to KB Articles that need to hold videos for example for explaining things, what are the storage restrictions/limitations?
5 - Do you offer friendly export capabilities so we can backup all content from all our KB´s respecting the format, etc.?
6 - Do you have a comment system, ranking of articles, etc.?
1) Correct, each workspace has a separate team and can have a separate domain / url.
2) Partly. There are permissions / roles, but not as thorough as you write. You can see the permissions at https://help.eniston.io/settings/team
3) No. There is no registration that you set up. You can only invite users to collaborate with you in a team. But that is for the backend only. The frontend has no user authentication (email / password) in place.
4) Right now, you can only add external videos. Images and other assets like PDFs are hosted with us, without limitation.
5) We currently only support XML export per article. But a more complete export will be added this year.
6) No. Although comments were requested and that may be something we will integrate at some point.
I am not really sure what the use-case would be, but why don‘t you just direct your clients to the frontend of your workspace? Just like umcsom suggested.
Then set a password for the whole workspace frontend or just certain categories. A read-only user role for the backend does not make sense for us to implement.
Q: Is there whitelabel/custom domain per knowledge base or per account?
I.e. can I have eight different knowledge bases each with a custom domain and branding under one account or do I need to have an account for each custom domain and branded knowledge base that I want?
Use case: I have several clients for home I am building brand standards that will be customer-facing. I need those standards to reflect the branding and domain of each of those customers. I planned on using docusaurus because I can do whatever I like with that tool, however if I can skip all of the technology stack (hosting, SSL, updates, etc.) I would love it.
I've been using eniston for some time now and I can confirm that the custom domain is 1 per knowledgebase. I run multiple businesses and we have separate knowledgebases for each on their own custom domains.

Excelent. I have a video file hosting service so that's all ok. This is looking like a good scenario for me. I'll take it for a test spin.

Not a deal breaker, but can I set some attachements as non-downloadable?

Q: Good morning friend.
My need is to use it with an internal team. Is it possible to restrict access to those who are logged in?

Is the knowledge base unique or can I have multiple bases with different domains?
