Q: Licenses and plan

1) What is specifically a license?

2) Up until tier 3 and up those plans come with no data retention? For the lower tiers , can you answer thoroughly what data would you all be retaining?

A: 1) What a license is
A license is one AppSumo purchase at a given tier, activated on one rtrvr account (the email you sign in with). Every tier includes lifetime access to the browser extension, Cloud browsers, schedules, the API and hosted MCP, lead enrichment, and the Rover website agent. The tier sets your credits and a few advanced controls:

Tier 1: 1,000 activation credits + 250/month, 1 Rover site
Tier 2: 2,000 + 500/month, 5 Rover sites, bring your own model key
Tier 3: 5,000 + 1,000/month, 15 Rover sites, adds Private Mode and custom branding
Tier 4: 10,000 + 3,000/month, 30 Rover sites
Tier 5 (AppSumo Plus): 25,000 + 10,000/month, unlimited Rover sites

We have a default Free Mode supported by ads but that doesn't give you access to background automations like schedules.

2) Data retention
That's right: Private Mode (zero data retention) is included from Tier 3 up. Here's what we keep when Private Mode is off, which is always the case on Tiers 1 and 2:

Private Mode is designed for B2B needs where ZDR is required, with it off we store your execution artifacts on our cloud to support a rich feature set:

Account and billing: your email, license and tier, and credit usage. We keep these in Private Mode too.
Task history: for each run, the prompt, the actions the agent took and the results. This lets you view, replay, share, schedule or call a task through the API. You can delete any task from the Executions view.
Ephemeral page snapshots: the structured copy of a page the agent reads may be stored during a run so later steps can refer back to it and with a short TTL.
Uploaded files: files you attach to a task are stored so the agent can use them.
Things you create: custom tools, recordings and schedules are synced so the Cloud agent can use them.
Cookies: only if you turn on and configure cookie sync so Cloud browsers can start already signed in.
Server logs: we log requests for debugging and to improve the product. Outside Private Mode, these can include prompts and model responses.
Extracted data: anything sent to Google Sheets or Docs lives in your Google account. We can't read your Sheets unless you give access to a specific one.

We never collect saved passwords or browsing history, or read pages you haven't asked the agent to work on.

On Tier 3 and up, Private Mode runs extension tasks in memory. Prompts, page content and results aren't written to our logs or cloud storage, and task history stays in local extension storage. Cloud runs aren't covered by Private Mode yet.

To delete your account and data, email [email protected]. Billing records we're required to keep are the exception.
