Q: Private mode and web search

Interesting product!

- What exactly does the Private mode mean?
- Can your agents do web search and in that case, which engines are used and what is the credit cost?
- I'm mostly into general searching / web scraping and not so much for leads - good fit anyway?
- Can I have notifications send out when I find a match? E.g. a mail / whatsapp when a mint condition copy of Giana Sisters is found on Ebay.

Thanks,
Johan

A: Hi Frazze, thanks!

What Private Mode means
Private Mode is our zero-data-retention setting. It's included from Tier 3 up, and you turn it on in the extension settings. With it on, your prompts, the page content the agent reads and the results are handled in memory only. None of it is written to our logs or cloud storage, and your task history stays in local extension storage instead of your cloud dashboard. The model still has to read the page to do the work, so that content goes to the model provider (Gemini on Google Vertex AI, GMI Cloud [with their own ZDR] or your own API key). Private Mode covers tasks you run in the extension. Cloud browsers and schedules run on our servers while your laptop is closed, so Private Mode doesn't cover them yet.

Web search
Yes. The agent has a built-in web search tool that returns Google results. It costs 0.15 credits per query (1 credit = 1 cent), and failed searches are free, so 50 searches come to about 7.5 credits plus the agent's normal cost for the run. The agent can also browse any search engine or a site's own search (Bing, DuckDuckGo, eBay's search bar) the way you would. That's billed as a normal run: usually 0.5 to 5 credits in the extension, and more in Cloud because hosted browser time is added.

General searching and scraping
Yes, that's a good fit. Lead gen is just one use case. Describe what you want and the agent pulls it from lists, tables and detail pages, follows pagination, and writes the rows to a Google Sheet. Because the extension runs in your own browser, its perfect for scraping sites where you're signed in like LinkedIn, FB Marketplace, Ebay.

Notifications when there's a match
Yes, with one caveat. Create a schedule on extension or cloud with a prompt like "Search eBay for Giana Sisters, keep only listings described as mint or sealed, and list the title, price and link," and have it run every few hours. An extension run will give you an OS notification on finishing and a cloud run can notify you by email, WhatsApp, Slack, Discord or webhook, with a short summary and a link to the full results. Right now a notification goes out after every run, not only when there's a match. If you only want match alerts, send the webhook to Zapier or n8n and add a filter step before the email or WhatsApp message. I'd run the prompt once in the extension first to tune it.
