As a massage therapist, I currently use Acuity and it allows customers to purchase a gift certificate for an appointment type that they can either print or email to another person.
It’s a feature my clients use a lot.

You could find a way to do this. The best way would be to send a link to a "private" Booking Type when a user buys a gift card. These booking types are not shown publicly, and only available to anyone who has the link. So only gift card people could use that link.
