Q: Upgrade Question
I'm forming a Joint Venture with another independent consultant. Am I correct that if we want to conduct meetings where BOTH of us are on it and the availability checks BOTH of our calendars, I'd have to upgrade to Agency? Or can I simply connect his calendar to my account and have the availability look at two calendars? Will he need an email address on my domain to use it or may we create a sub-account (using his business email) under my Administration and he'll have full access (and maybe even use it for his own independent work)?

You're correct on the first point. For a booking type where both of you attend and the calendar only offers slots you're both free for, you need a team, and creating a team requires Agency — either the Agency lifetime deal or a Pro subscription. That setup is called a Collective team booking type: each host's own availability schedule and connected calendars are checked, in each host's own timezone, and only the times you're both open show as bookable.
Connecting his calendar to your account isn't a real substitute. You can connect more than one calendar account to a single TidyCal account, and his busy times would block your availability, but he wouldn't be a host on the booking, the booking page would still be yours alone, and he'd have to hand over his Google or Microsoft login to set it up. It covers the availability half and none of the rest.
The account side is better news than you might expect. He does not need an email on your domain — you invite him by any email address, including his own business email, and he accepts the invite from his own TidyCal account. Team members are free, with no per-seat charge and no cap on members, and you can give him the Admin role so he can manage the team alongside you. Because the account is his own, he can absolutely use it for his independent work as well. The one thing to know is that his personal booking types run on his own plan, so they'd be on the free plan unless he upgrades separately. Your Agency features cover the team booking types you own, not his private ones.
