Disappointed by Unexpected Policy Changes and Broken Promises
Really feel bad about the policy changes. A company that claims to give lifetime credits has changed the deal to just 3–4 months and didn’t even provide the second month’s credits. Truly disappointed.

I am really sad.
The longer I think about this issue, the more dissatisfied I become. At first, I was just a bit shocked. Finally, an app that truly brings joy! And then, without any consultation, it was taken away from me in such a short time. In my opinion, this is the absolute worst solution for customers compared to the original offer. Both AppSumo and Yapper leave an extremely questionable and untrustworthy impression with this solution. The original deal and the current "solution" are completely different and disadvantage buyers with valid licenses by at least 95% or more. I believe that mediation between AppSumo, Yapper, and the buyers would be a much better solution, so that customers do not feel as miserable and unfairly treated as I do right now. The second star is for the return guarantee. I was looking forward to receiving full credits back after a few days, but I am unfortunately very, very disappointed..

Dec 12, 2025Hey Frank, thanks for sharing your honest feedback.
We understand the frustration with the deal structure change. Your assessment of the product and breakdown of how this impacts your use case is helpful for both the Yapper team and other Sumo-lings making purchasing decisions.
We appreciate you taking the time to provide constructive feedback that helps us evaluate future deals. 🙏

One taco for the tool, zero for integrity
I was surprised by how difficult it was to generate decent-quality videos - of my first dozen attempts, I think one was something I might consider publishing. That said I was willing to give the tool a chance to improve until they switched the lifetime deal I purchased with a backdoor to their monthly subscription. I'm refunding promptly.
In addition to the software's obvious shortcomings, the response to every negative review on here has been the same fake PR talking points along with an absurd claim that this is the customer's fault because we used the tool "10x more" than other customers. That is not how SaaS works. If people are abusing the plans, you create an abuse policy. If they're not abusing the plans, then you need to create a business model that actually works, not try to bait-and-switch a bunch of people into your monthly subscription.
This is ugly, and the whole thing makes me glad I'm not an AppSumo Plus subscriber anymore. Usually I refund for credit but I'm not sure I will have any use for it.

Dec 12, 2025Hey there — thanks for laying everything out so clearly. I hear your frustration, and anyone would be feeling the same way if I thought I’d bought one thing and ended up with another.
On the quality side, plenty of customers are getting strong results with Yapper and pushing out publish-ready videos — but generative tools can definitely have a learning curve, and it’s fair if your early outputs...

Disappointed - refunded
I really wanted this to be a win, but it wasn’t for me. The platform didn’t feel worth the time or hassle for my workflow, and I ended up requesting a refund.
Also, it’s hard to ignore that the deal’s credit structure was updated after launch to a one-time lifetime credit model with discounted top-ups, with users auto-moved to the new terms.
That kind of shift makes it tough to trust the long-term value.
Glad refunds are straightforward, but overall this was a miss for me.

Dec 12, 2025Thanks for the candid take — totally fair that not every tool fits every workflow, and I’m glad the refund process was smooth for you.
On the credit structure update, I get why that raised an eyebrow. Any change after launch needs to be handled clearly, and customers should always feel confident they’re getting the value they signed up for.
Plenty of folks are getting great mileage out of...

A big loss.. Was on it's way to be a winner
As others stated this went from an LTD to a dumpster fire where if you kept it you were throwing your money in the flames.
There's multiple things in this story that are strange.
1. You say the credits were used at 10x the rates of normal usage.
Q. I read a response where you said the fact users will buy more credits is what makes this sustainable. So How was this a bad thing if you yourself said it was part of your strategy?
A. Looks like they may have just used this to bolster their numbers and projections for the coming year while in the final quarter.
2. If you try to say something like we gave too many monthly credits ( which you didn't I have other LTDs that gave me about x3 if not more for the models) why not just do a step down approach like "hey here's a partial credit and you have XYZ amount of monthly credits but we can't afford the original deal but can offer you this amount plus a partial return"?
There's more but lets summarize this a bit:
I was mad but now I'm more just disappointed in you Yapper. I thought we had something but 1 bump and you would rather burn everything down and salt the land. Shame on you.
Als you guys are the ones that said:
1. Compute costs are on the decline, not the rise. This softens the blow of high usage.
2. If LTD users use Yapper frequently, they'll probably want to buy additional credits. This is sustainable for us!
3. We have a contractual obligation with AppSumo to honor the terms of the LTD, as well as a moral commitment to do the best by our users!

Dec 12, 2025Hey there — totally understand why this feels like a letdown. The original deal had a ton of promise, and we know the change hit harder than anyone wanted.
Let me straighten out a couple of the points you raised, because the frustration is valid but some of the assumptions behind it aren’t quite what happened.
On the “10x usage” and sustainability question:
High usage can be a good thing when...
