Q: BYOK needs support for OpenAI-Compatible key
I cannot use DM Champ so far because I don't have a Claude account. However I have an OpenAI-Compatible API key with access to all Claude models.
Could you please add support for OpenAI-Compatible API keys in the BYOK section ?

Jun 17, 2026A: Hi you dont need any api key; you can always use the credits. Not having a Claude key will not stop you from using the platform.
Understood but that does not answer the question. Why the BYOK standard is not yet supported (OpenAI-Compatible key) ? Again this has nothing to do with Claude as we can perfectly use Claude models through OpenAI-Compatible API.
There is another question here where this is answered in detail. Please check that.
I quote your response "For bringing your own API key, we currently only support Claude as it has been the most reliable and hallucinates the least, which is quite important for something that faces new customers."
This has absolutely nothing to do with Open-AI Compatible Key. I use weekly Claude models that way and I have zero reliability problems.
Most of AI providers keep the original model ID in v1/models endpoint. You could simply restrict the models that are allowed via OpenAI-Compatible key. For instance:
/claude-sonnet-4-6
/claude-haiku-4-5
Sorry, I don't think I fully understand you. You want to use Claude through OpenAI?
I don't fully understand. Could you explain how this works?
No ! 🤦🏻♂️
OpenAI-compatible API is an industry-standard that mimics OpenAI’s request/response structure. It acts as a universal adapter, allowing clients to use virtually any model provider (includ. Anthropic) by setting up a base URL and API key. As "drop-in" standard, it does not degrade model performance or introduce reliability issues.
Among many providers that offer OpenAI-Compatible API:
- OpenRouter
- Together AI
- DeepInfra
- LLM Gateway

My experience is 0 issues using Claude Models.
Ah ok, I get what you mean now, and you're right that it doesn't hurt the model. My earlier answer was about something else. My question: why would you not just sign up directly to the Claude Console? Making this compatible now is very low priority, as we don't have many users that are requesting this at all and we're working on much more exciting stuff. You can check our Skool community.
Using an OpenAI-Compatible setup avoids having several accounts. LLM Gateway excels for that and I have full usage analytics.
