Formly - Forms, Surveys & Quizzes Reviews

I had purchased Formly back in 2022 and had trouble using it. Since it was only a Tier 1 AppSumo offering and I couldn't refund due to negligence on my part, I chalked it up as a learning experience. I saw it once again last year and noticed many improvements so this time I made a Tier 3 purchase. I played around with it but didn't put it to the test until one of my client's WeForms market registration form failed and we couldn't get it fixed.

So I decided to finally get serious with Formly and recreated the form for my client. With support help from the Formly folks I now had a form completed and ready to try out. Connecting it to Stripe just basically required me adding the client's Stripe email address to the form. Instantly, the form was working flawlessly. Using one of their templates allowed me to mimic the design of my client's website. The receipt generated and sent to the user is well laid out and clearly indicates the user's choice of markets they wished to attend along with the booth size, cost of each booth and the total.

So here are a couple of suggestions to the Formly folks from my recent experience using their product.
1. I got stuck when trying to connect the pricing to the booth size and location. I couldn't figure out what I had done wrong. I immediately went to their "Help" section where a list of Hep articles gave me a choice of subjects to choose from. After reading through them, nothing was helpful.
2. When the "Help" section didn't actually help, I looked for any "support@" email address in my account. Couldn't find any email contact form or "chat box" at all.
3. That led me to YouTube to see if they had any videos I could watch. My search for "Formly Forms" produced a list of videos, but they were either competitors or AppSumo marketers creating their own videos. Scrolling down the page I finally found one that Formly created just two months ago. It was a well done 13 second video highlighting "Hidden Fields", but didn't show how to add a hidden field. Again, showing how easily they added field that would be a better sales approach. That was all I could find. Still stuck with my problem.
4. Went to CHATGPT and asked it if Formly had a support email address. It displayed it right away and I was now able to write for some help. They responded immediately with an explanation of what to do. I tried it but still had trouble. I wrote back for more clarity and they encouraged me to try once more and make note of the "@" symbol placement. That's when I discovered that I had not hit my space bar to provide one space between the text and the field calculator. Once I did that, everything started working. One strike with my space bar on my keyboard was all I needed to finish my work.

This is my experience with Formly Forms. Now that I have a better understanding how everything works, I'm up and running ready to replace all my current forms Formly Forms. Good folks with a great product. Some videos like the one you just made and an easier way to communicate would be the icing on a nice cake!

Definitely like it! It helps me do more than collect information. I can segment leads, ask better questions, connect everything to google sheets, and send people to the right next step automatically. I was tyring to do the same stuff with Google Forms and Sheets and this is 1000x more professional, easier to apply logic to, and I like the grapsh you can add in teh thank you pages. I've used the webhook a few times for connections but i lie having it all feed to the google form and then deciphering users through that personally. I will also recommend that having it embed on my website has been really seamless as well for different offers. I don'tlove the way the structure is for the colors/ uploading of pictures for the forms but its minor and i try and keep them more for the form itself and using it for leads and client feedback.
great product and i've done about 20 forms so far.

It is obvious by the super basic User Interface (UI) that this is product is version 1, so that instantly re-set my expectations on what to expect. While it does what it's meant to do, I don't find the experience enjoyable.
Also, there are only two options to share the forms, either by link or embed. There is no option for having the form be triggered by a button, or have it show as full page, etc.
I don't think I'll be sticking around and hoping for the devs to improve something that seems unfinished.

It's MUCH better than Google Translate and cheaper than Tally. I use it both for student tests and for company recruitment. The UI is still mediocre in places (e.g., previewing longer answers in the workbook—you have to download a PDF to read longer responses), but the developers are trying. A new version is now available, so it's great!

I highly recommend it—for both personal use (e.g., creating a survey for friends) and business use (recruitment, registration forms, tests, surveys, feedback).

I have been using Formly for couple of months now. As a person who is totally 90% non-software savvy the Ai process in Formly works extremely well. The support is fast and always solves your problem. Amazing product!
