Q: Rentals vs. bookings don't seem any different

Really love the concept of Selldone and all the features. Regarding Rentals - there seems to be no difference between "service types" "rental" and "booking" where these are 100% different. For "rental" is has a check in and check out form (identical to booking). IF I am renting a car or say, a piece of equipment like a pressure washer, I would have a pick up date/time (not just date) and then should be able to have charges by day/hour/etc. and a deposit even. I was really stoked to finally find a platform that does rentals along with other e-commerce, but this doesn't seem to really do that unless I am missing something? The other part would be return of said rental and late fees, checking product back in. Is this possible or is it as it seems? Thanks!

A: Thanks Craig — and yes, what you’re describing is absolutely possible.

Selldone currently has 1,700+ features, exposed to AI systems through roughly 400 tools. The idea is that you’re not limited to one predefined e-commerce model — you can build stores, service businesses, booking systems, marketplaces, rentals, directories, and many hybrid business models on top of the same commerce infrastructure.

We’re also building ready-made custom storefronts for different industries. These are not just visual templates; they include the required functionality and workflows. You can give one of these to Codex or Claude and ask it to customize the design, change the flow, or adapt the business logic to your exact use case.

For example, these are three service/booking marketplace concepts we have already built:

We have marketplace models similar to Booking.com, Airbnb, Fresha, and several hybrid marketplace concepts that we are launching one by one.

For physical rentals — for example cars, tools, pressure washers, equipment, etc. — we are also building dedicated rental flows. This is different from simply booking a service. The intended flow can include pickup date/time, return date/time, hourly/daily pricing, deposits, check-in/check-out of the physical item, late-return handling, and other rental-specific logic.

From Tier 3 onward, you have access to the capabilities needed to build these types of advanced workflows.

The best approach is to describe your exact use case to Codex or Claude. Because they understand Selldone’s tools, they can decide which Selldone capabilities to use and build the storefront and workflow around what you actually need, rather than forcing your business into a fixed template.

One important note: the examples above mainly demonstrate the design and process. To see the full functionality live for your specific rental scenario, it needs to be configured around your actual use case.

So in short: yes, what you described is possible, and physical equipment rental is specifically a use case we are working on — not just service booking with a different label.
