Q: What happens to the AppSumo LTD customers if / when Selldone is eventually sold or bought by another company?

This is an exciting product and appears to be one worth investing in. However, sometimes great software products attract the attention of other well-known software companies, and those companies want to acquire and shutdown competition or keep the tech assets- for which original contributing customers get lost in the mix. Since business ops are on the line, knowing what is set to happen to the original customers in an if-this-then-that scenario would be very helpful.

A: Hey buddy,
That's a very fair question, and one we've thought about ourselves.

While we have no plans to sell Selldone, no one can honestly guarantee what may happen many years from now. If the company were ever acquired, the acquiring company would also acquire our contractual obligations to customers, including AppSumo lifetime licenses. They couldn't simply pretend those agreements never existed.

More importantly, our business model is designed to make long-term customers valuable, not a liability. Even LTD users continue generating revenue through transaction fees as their businesses grow, so our incentives stay aligned with yours.

We've been building Selldone for the past 5 years, and we're still in builder mode. In fact, two of the world's top 10 venture capital firms have been following us for years with interest in investing. We genuinely appreciate that confidence, but we've intentionally chosen not to raise capital yet because our focus is on building a better product, not chasing faster customer growth. We believe that if we build the right product, growth will naturally follow.

Our vision has always been to build a Business Operating System that businesses can rely on for decades—not to build something for a quick exit. As founders, our reputation is worth far more than a short-term acquisition, and that's how we make decisions every day.

If an acquisition were ever to happen in the future, protecting our customers and honoring the trust they've placed in us would be one of our highest priorities throughout that process. We owe a lot to our early supporters, especially our AppSumo community, and we never forget that.

Regards,
Alireza

Alireza, thank you for your well though-out, and timely response. I think that serious business owners find this topic very important and appreciate a good-faith effort on the part of the software company toward maintaining a future customer model that includes the folks who helped the company in the beginning stages. Thank you!

Sure. Thank you for the great question. I cannot say their names, but one of them is Shopify's investor.
Regards,
Alireza
