bad customer support...
We have completely lost all trust in your brand, and we will absolutely share an honest review of our experience. The fact that your customer support is simply not responding is disgraceful. It is honestly disgusting.

Useless
It's not possible to upload an audio to transcribe, you can't connect it with Chatgpt to use it Chatgpt. The bot doesn't know anything about itself.

Jul 23, 2026Hey, thanks for the honest feedback — and sorry for the rough first impression. 🙏 Most of what you hit comes down to how the AppSumo lifetime plan works, so let me clear it up:
The AI not "knowing anything" / not working — this is the main one. AppSumo plans run on BYOK (Bring Your Own Key). Because it's a pay-once-use-forever deal, we don't meter AI on our side — instead you plug in your own AI...

This app was great until it wasn't. It worked well enough and then basically stopped. I have been on their Slack and have brought up several issues and nothing has been answered. Screenshots of issues I did provide were deleted by someone there so I know someone is watching.
My meetings aren't being summarized, the AI chat is awful. It can't even tell what day it is.... literally can't tell so if i ask "what was my meeting about last Wednesday?" it tells me it doesn't have access to date/time info.
They're just using the "artificial" portion without the "intelligence".
Support is awful, the service is crumbling.
Let's see what they say here, if anything.

Jul 23, 2026Hi, and I'm sorry — this isn't the experience we want anyone to have, and reading it honestly stings because you're clearly someone who wanted Spellar to work.
First, the deleted screenshots: that shouldn't have happened, and I don't want to hand-wave it. If something was removed, we owe you an explanation, and I'll personally look into it. Nothing you shared to help us fix a problem should ever...

My New Meetings Note Taker
Was a bit apprehensive about giving this a punt after reading the negative reviews, but really glad I did. As I don't use an iPhone, the lack of call recording on that device doesn't impact me.
Once I'd set up my own api key, it has been super useful, discreet and works seamlessly with my workflow. I can integrate it into Notion and from there into Claude to automate, extracting info, creating to-do lists, etc so it ticks most of the boxes that I need it for.
It's very simple, and I prefer it to Fathom, which had been my go-to, but the meeting bot was becoming a distraction.
It's simple, has been reliable for me, and I hope they continue to develop the product and perhaps even create an Android app.

Jul 1, 2026Thank you so much for giving Spellar a chance despite the mixed reviews — that really means a lot to us.
We're especially happy to hear that the bot-free experience fits your workflow and that you're already combining Spellar with Notion and Claude to automate your work. (Try our integration with Obsidian) That's exactly the kind of workflow we hope to enable.
And thanks for mentioning Android!...
