Q: White labeling

Hi, what does white labeling mean here? Do I get to change the plugin name when I install it on my client's WordPress website, or does it mean something else?

A: Hello,

Great question! In this context, white labeling means that you can rebrand the plugin to suit your own business. Specifically, you can remove the plugin’s branding and replace it with your own, allowing you to present it as your own product when installing it on your clients' WordPress websites.

While you can’t change the plugin’s internal name completely, white labeling gives you the ability to customize things like the plugin's appearance and admin interface branding.

Q: Will there be "Extended Access:" for Plus users once this deal ends?

As of writing this the current deal will end in 8 days, but I would like to make sure if there will indeed be Extended Access (an exclusive perk made available for AppSumo Plus members) afterwards.

Q: Any plans for more marketing and exposure (YouTube, blogs, etc.)?

H Lars, when researching about Security Ninja I couldn’t help but notice how few reviews there are about your product. And some of the ones I could find were old and outdated.

I’d very much like to see you succeed, especially if I’m going to buy the product, so I was wondering what your plans are in terms of marketing Security Ninja and gaining more exposure within the WP community?

Do you ever collaborate with or sponsor known WP influencers and YouTubers who can review and showcase the latest features for you?

I think this will really help in driving more recognition and users to this plugin, while gaining traction against the orher ‘big boy’ security plugins like Wordfence and Solid Security; the latter especially I often see them recently collabing with YouTube creators, so I urge you to consider marketing more heavily as well :)

A: Thank you for your thoughtful question and support! We completely agree that exposure and marketing are crucial for success, and we’re actively working on expanding our presence.

In fact, after our last AppSumo launch, we’ve expanded our team specifically to focus on online marketing, including collaborations with influencers and YouTubers, as well as exploring blog partnerships. This is part of our effort to grow the company and reach more people in the WordPress community.

Thank you for your support, and if you have any more questions or ideas, feel free to reach out!

Q: 8G Firewall

Hi Lars, I saw in another Q&A you mentioned that Security Ninja uses the 8G firewall by Jeff Starr.

So what if I already have the code added to my htaccess file? Do I need to delete it to
avoid duplication/redundancy?

Or can I disable just the firewall in your plugin and use htaccess for that? Correct me if I’m wrong but my understanding is that using htaccess for 8G and disabling the firewall in the plugin may yield better performance.

A: Hello,

Yes, you are correct! If you already have the 8G firewall rules added to your htaccess file, you can certainly keep them in place and disable the firewall in the plugin. This can help improve performance, as you won’t have duplicate rules running.

We recommend enabling the "Block Suspicious Page Requests" feature in the plugin instead. This allows you to retain the benefits of the plugin, such as login protection and other security features, without interfering with your existing htaccess rules.

Q: Firewall

I have 7g firewall active at the server level for all my sites so could I use the other security features within WP Security Ninja without using the firewall, as I'm not sure I need an additional firewall.

A: Hello
Yes, absolutely! You can definitely use the other security features of WP Security Ninja without enabling the plugin's firewall. Our firewall runs on a customized version of the 8G firewall, specifically tweaked for WordPress, but if you’re already using 7G at the server level, there’s no need for an additional firewall.

You’ll still benefit from our other features like vulnerability management, webhook integration, login protection, two-factor authentication (2FA) and much more.
